Default Corrosive Salt Guard or Lightning Strike

Going to build an HP item on my barb and I'm considering either Corrosive Salt Guard or Lightning strike.

I may even just go air + air +air.

Not too much information about corrosive salt guard around though. Is it good? How much does it proc? Is it worth having?

I don't have any other guards on atm.

Go all water for Crushing Wave Guard, it goes off more than Corrosive Guard and costs less ingredients, i have both on my Barbarian. Thought about lightning but you have to take into account the amount of times you are gonna get hit and really you want something will proc more often than Lightning Guard.

Can't have both? they both seem to proc the same as eachother, lightning does more damage but above all it just plain old looks better

True but if your going to make a shroud item and take up an item slot you shouldn't really worry about what's cheap and what's not IMO, if it comes down to that just wait a while until you have more larges so you don't regret it later on.

Just fyi, lightning strike guard kinda sucks. The proc. rate is very low so you really don't see it going off often.

The proc rate of the different guards is inversely proportional to the power of the guard. Lightning Strike is a big dmg guard so it rarely goes off, while corrosive salt guard is half the dmg so it should occur twice as often. Steam seems to be the most commonly occurring one and has the advantage of being untyped dmg so it will hit anything. It is only 2d8+8 dmg but is probably more reliable then the others.

I personally like dust myself, untyped dam between 450-550, and it pops more than litII

Have the lighting strike guard on my 15 ac wf barb and it doesn't really go off to much, when I tank in VOD it normally goes off at least twice per run. most probably like 5 times.

Even though it is super sweet seeing it go off, I read that the Salt guard goes off more so I would probably go with that. Disintegrate guard is a nice one too, goes off a little more that the Lightning strike but does around 500 untyped damage.

    Default Salt guard

I have Salt Guard goggles on both my WF Barbarians, seems to proc quite frequently. Granted, it is not 600 pts Lightning damage, but 4 ticks of 75+ pts adds up. Also untyped damage, so it hits everything.

I actually saw it proc 2x last night on the Cat during a Shroud run at the same time. I thought I was going to kill the poor kitty while shield blocking, LOL.

I have lightning strike, corrosive salt, disintegration, and earth grab on my barb Rochel. Disintegration and Corrosive salt both go off for approx. 500 points and both are untyped damage so they effect everything. Earth Grab goes off all the time it seems like and I love the auto crit. It's pow pow pow grabbed, bam bam...dead. Lightning strike's proc rate is way too low for me to be able to suggest it. I see dis and salt go off a bit more and the untyped is nice. I'm trying to get dual disintegration dual corrosive salt and lightning stike by using the DT armor to double up the first two.
