Cleric greensteel thought

I have a friend who plays a pure cleric and knows very little about crafting so she's asking for help with her first item. Additionally, my cleric is rapidly gaining levels and will be ready to start thinking about his first shroud item soon too.

Playing around with the crafting planner, the Concordant Opposition goggles sounded good at first but my friend doesn't have a lot of larges and it would probably take her forever to make them. Going single-shard may be the best bet for her.

What are the expert thoughts on Earth-Earth-Earth goggles? I'm thinking

+10 hp, +1 con skills
+150 sp, +5 Wis skills
Summon Earth El, Earthgrab

Good item for a healing focused cleric?

Consider foregoing concordant opposition on tier 3; its not generally worth the larges (I have a conc opp, and its just not that big a deal). However, existential stalemate is. I would have your friend make:

tier1 neg: disease/blindness immunity
tier2 pos: 50 sp, 2 cha skills
existential stalemate, 6 wis, 10 diplo/haggle
tier3 earth, neg or air: 100 sp, +3 x skills, no special effect


air, earth and negative use less scales than the other 3 elements, so this setup only costs two scales.


The concordant is probably not worth the extra cost to anyone but a straight, rich power gamer, as it does not proc very often. However the 150 sp and getting 6 wisdom there is very valuable.

Not every item needs ot have a tier 3 bonus effect (my bard's cha skills item is neg/pos/air, though his 2nd item may be a mineral2.. depends on what you require).


she can get earth eles with a triple earth weapon: 3 excep wis, earth eles, and it's also only a 2 scale investment: both items for 4 scales! (probably 5 stones)!

I would try to go all out with spellpoints and Wis 6 on one item--sure you can get a good raid ring, but, then you are wearing 2 items instead of one for what? 25 SP? ( I can't remember exact number)

Wis SKills +5 is pretty useless.

Since my clerics have several cool rings that I switch out quite a bit, I like not having to worry about sp loss if I forget to equip a ring. If your friend has a memory that is tops, and doesn't have a lot of other gear, than perhaps an SP ring would suit her fine.

I have Existential Stalemate on one cleric. . .
And I have concordant opposition on my other cleric and will craft a pair for my new cleric--I however don't hide behind trees on my clerics and it processes quite a bit for me. But then again I used to be one of those rich players

I'm making a greensteel scepter that is

tier1 earth +6 wisdom
tier2 positive 20% healing amplification - stoneskin (2/day)
tier3 positive Superior Devotion VI

This allows me to get rid of my +6 Wisdom Helm and will allow me to craft a helm that will be more beneficial to me in the long run.

Right now I have items that help me out with my spell points.

Hey Mate,

I recently crafted my first greensteel item ever, which happened to be for my cleric.
I originally had planned to go Triple Earth too!, but then I got told about the Existential Stalemate, and i went with that instead (Postive, Negative, Positive).

I am actually sitting at Tier 2 atm on it, until I get one more large Stone to finish.
I am only going to go a single shard at Tier 3. I followed peoples advice that Concordant Opposition was waste of larges (and only recently having started raiding shroud regularly, I don't have many).

I am pretty happy with this item hey. I currently sit at just under 1500 sp on my battle capable cleric (15/1 clr/ftr). Comes in very useful. That final tier will put me up near 1600 when I get the large stone.

I had guildies advising me to go with a Triple Air item, with Hitpoints on first Tier, and then bonus SP on final tiers, combined with getting the Necklace from the Hound (Wiz VII, +6 Wisdom, etc) to round out the wis bonus and sp bonus, but I really liked the idea of consolidating the wisdom and sp bonus onto one item (plus, going that way I wouldn't have been able to fit in a Con +6 item, or a Greater False Life Item due to my current gear).

If you use Empower Healing I'd suggest getting the Houd Necklace. Then you can craft something other than the Exisitensial, but it is a good choice either way.

The necklace is WIS +6, Wizardry VII, Imp. Empower Healing II plus the set bonus which gives a Devotion VIII to a degree, depending on how many set items you have.

If you don't do a lot of raiding then I'd suggest consolidating it to 1 item with your Greensteel. Wizardry VI, WIS +6, +150 SP in whatever combination suits you. That's a pretty versatile item for a Cleric and fills a lot of needs. If you raid the Shroud often enough to fill out a weapon a +3 exceptional WIS item plus that gives you a very nice SP boost which should allow you to rid yourself of Mental Toughness if you needed the feat space(if you even took it).

Just a small correction Lorrik's has Wiz 6 on it--The Existential will net more SP if crafted correctly.

IT really comes down to what kind of gear your friend has, and what kind of cleric she is, as well as what content she plays. If she solos alot or runs a static group without a caster, a haste clickie might be the best choice

I think many clerics opt for goggles over Lorriks because there really aren't that many good things to put in the Goggle slot, while the neck slot is often used for +6 Con or the Silver Flame Necklace, and some other things. Sure you could wear a +6 con belt or ring, but then most GFL items are on the Belt or ring, and one may want to wear a concentration ring even if they have quicken if they use alto of scrolls.

At any rate, I only wear the lorriks in part 5 of shroud sometimes.

I'm pretty fond of going Pos-Neg Wiz VI, Wis 6, Fear and Poison Immunity.

Unless your friend has a lot of Planar Girds, getting feared on a cleric is pretty bad. And poison immunity is extremely useful in the game now. I know I sacrifice 50 SP, and possibly 10 hp, and using the Lorrik's Necklace... but 20th Shroud = cleaning stone. So there is that.

I spent a long time trying to figure this out and posted a questioning thread too.

I finally decided:

(pos) healing Lore
(pos) +50 SP +2CHA skills
(pos) +100 SP +3CHA skills

Side effects include disruption guard (meh) and a True Res clicky (nice)

I think it is about as good as a healing cleric can do.
