Roll a "Gimp"

Go ahead, roll up a "Gimpy" character and leave it untwinked until level 8 at least.

If you've already done this recently, just pass on by.

If you are incapable of this and absolutely MUST take 2 or more classes, you fail, don't bother trying again.

I mean things like an Acid/Lightning sorcerer, or a Wizard with 14 INT(Pure.), or a Pure Warforged Monk, or a Pure Rogue Tinker that leans toward melee(enhancements), or a Pure Halfling Repeater Ranger, or a ... you get the drift.

I see too many powerhouses dominating Stormreach, their sole purposes: To grind the hell out of levels below the cap, and some take on the secondary(optional) agenda: e-peen, and disrespecting new players by telling them that they suck because they could not keep up with a min/maxed tome-eating ultratwinked character chugging Haste potions like air.

Come on folks, roll up that Drow Bard Virtuoso with 6 CON!(No ranged feats.) It's called a "challenge" for a reason!

This, of course, is aimed mostly at the people who have 10 Multiclasses and 1 Bard(Spellsinger, Human, Maxed out for Haggle, useless in combat) on their account.

Then again, it's that (@#(*!!) Negative Level Death Penalty )*(@&)_! that I hate most about coming back to life.

I have a 10sorc/4pali/2rog....I don't think he's gimped but I get a lot of weird looks

I still fail to see this belief that some apparently have that multiclassing = powergaming/min maxing.

Plenty of people multiclass for reasons other than min maxing.

Oh, and before anyone starts, check my sig, I have 10 pure class characters, and my one multiclass has only 1 other class splashed.

Rogues aren't the only ones who do it from behind.... Halfling Monks do as well, but they move so fast that by the time you make your Listen check, they've already jump-kicked you.

Does a 11 Fighter 5 Ranger count?
Does it count double if he's used all those fighter feats for every Range Feat?

Long Story

It's an old OLD year 1 character, and one of my first. Dating back to when you couldn't move and shoot a bow w/o the Shot on the Run Feat. He was designed to pick the feat up as early as possible(4th level?). He's a 28 pt built, predating even the favor system, so couldn't even look towards a +2 tome to help out the lack of points to sink into wisdom. Also back then, they didn't have many useful 1st level spells for the Ranger. So I decided the extra feats would be better than spell casting lame spells. So at the first cap mark he was 8 Fighter/2 Ranger.

(At this point in the game history he was awesome.)

First Level Cap increase came along, and the PrEs hadn't been introduced yet for rangers, so I continued into fighter for. 10 Fighter/2 Ranger. This is where I start to get annoyed with the character, not throwing out DPS, and the annoyance of them changing the rule about shooting bows on the run.

Second Level cap increase comes along, and just to level the character I go ahead and shoot something out in Thernal to get my 1 exp to level.... I don't think the Ranger PrE's were introduced by then, but the concept was out there. I level up in Fighter, but the character has already been turned into a Mule. He sat there the next year or so with out being touched.

I brought him out of Mule-Dom when the Vale hit and archers weren't thought of as a hindrance there. I threw the last levels he'd missed into Ranger, wondering if I could save him with a PrE along the lines of DeepWoods Sniper..

End of Story. I'd delete him, but he's gotten decent raid gear... And tomes swallowed. Now he's just a gimp project to see if I can save him... Kensia 12/Deepwoods Sniper 6? Kensia 12/Deepwoods Sniper 6/ Rogue 2?

I'd say he's a poster child for the Total Respec Option! And he's also why I don't feel the least bit sorry when people complain about Critical Rage being removed. A part of the game changed that 'ruins' your character? Cry me a river.. Been there, done that.

Multiclasses....

I meant the thread to be centered around Pure builds, not Multiclasses. Therefore, please keep the original topic and continue to mention Pure classes, not Multiclasses.

Multiclasses can be gimp all on their own, without any help. It takes a lot of effort to cap a gimped Pure build(And I don't mean a Sorc or Wizard, which can solo nigh every quest in the game, according to some)

The Quarterstaff using Fighter 5 is a good example. Keep 'em coming!

I've got a level 5 pure Sorcerer that intimidates with sword/board and Weapon Finesse. Only offensive spell is Magic Missiles, the rest are buffs. Lot of fun to play but Trogs really suck with the low fort save.

On the other end of the spectrum, I saw this thread one day and just had to try it. A permadeath wizard with 4 CON, currently level 4 with 28hp. Lost the first version to a fireball in Butcher's at level 2.
