Running Vista-64, I finally decided to delete the Risia install yesterday.
Used control panel -> Programs and Features -> Risia
It uninstalled with the note that some directories could not be removed.
I removed the directory called DDO-Risia.
Then I tried to run normal DDO. It never gives me any window at all. I have to kill the DDO application using the task manager... but no window pops up. Did the same thing each time I tried to execute it (killed off the previous run first). Restarted. No change.
I checked the normal DDO install and documents directories, everything looked the same as before. I tried moving the user settings file into a different directory. No change. Deleted the entire My Documents\DDO config/screen shot directory. No change. Weird.
Oh well... time to reinstall DDO on Vista I guess. This would be weirdness #2.
Using the same method to remove Risia, I removed DDO - the normal. Then I deleted the Turbine directory. Then I installed from my Mod-6-HiRes client setup files back into the same original directory (C:\Games\Turbine\DDO). It completed and launched and I figured I'd have to wait a few hours for Mod 7,8 patching... but no... the client just launched... worked... DX10'ed.
So do this have something to do with Vista saving away copies of install files? I thought that only occurred in the Program Files (x86) directory. Will my client patch normally on the next patch update?
