    Default Stat bonuses stacking

As I've posted on other occassions, there is still a lot I don't know about Shroud crafted items.

I've been using the planner to sort of get a feel for what I'd like to do. But, I have a question concerning the stat bonuses that can be added to weapons.

Those list as exceptional bonuses and show that they stack provided that they are of different values (ie, 1 won't stack with another 1 bonus but will stack with a 2 or 6 bonus). The question I have is, is the exceptional bonus over and above normal stat item bonuses? If I have a +6 stat item now can I stack the +6 exceptional stat bonus on top of that?

My reading of the planner is that I can. But, before I craft I'd rather be certain that this is the situation.

    Thx.

Ok lets say your build a weapon and on this weapon it will give +6 to one stat at tier 1 , it will stack with the +1 at tier 2 and both of that will stack with Tier 3's +2 to the same stat. Netting you a total gain of +9 to the same stat on one weapon. Could also replace the +6 tier 1 with a +6 item somewhere else.

Yep, understand all that. But what if I have +6 STR from a belt and then build a +6/+2/+1 STR (total +9) weapon? Do I now have a +9 STR total (only the weapon) or do I have a +15 STR total (both weapon and belt)? That is my question.

I ask because the stacking of exceptional bonuses is different from normal stat items. If I equip a +3 STR belt and +4 STR gloves and +2 STR bracers I don't get +9 STR -- I only get the highest single item which is +4.

Is it the same with the weapon? When you say "replace the +6 tier 1 with a +6 item somewhere else" are you saying that I can't stack the +6 shroud weapon with the +6 non-shroud belt but that I could stack the +1/+2 (total +3) weapon with that same belt? Could I stack the +6 weapon with a +5 non-shroud belt?

Or, are you saying that the +6 on the belt would also have to be a shroud crafted item for there to be stacking?

In your example above, the first +6 from the weapon is not an exceptional bonus it is an enhancement bonus the same as your non-shroud crafted belt. So it is either or on that part. The +1 and +2 bonuses are exceptional and will stack with either the first +6 from your weapon or your non-shroud crafted belt, for a total of +9.

if this helps, leyoni, a sceptre with +6 cha tier 1, +1 excep tier 2 and +2 excep tier 3 increases your charisma by 9

    so, 9

the tier 1 bonus 6 stat is identical to a +6 item

for a melee character, by the way, exceptional str is a bad investment; elemental or aligned effects add far more to damage than 2 str brackets (which g ive 2 to hit and to dam)

excep weapon stats are for cha/int/wis on casters for higher dcs, strength is never, ever a good investment. (you want holy, acid, fire, etc)

Thanks. I now understand. I was reading the +6 as an exceptional bonus as well as the +1 and +2. I appreciate your clarifying that it is just a normal +6 bonus.

And, I understand that STR isn't really much value. I just chose it as it was easy.

    Thx
