New mod 8 gems...

So I got to thinking, does the gems drop for lower level toons, since some gems are located in other explorer areas.

If I rolled a new toon, and went running through a level appropiate explorer zone where these gems dropped (GH, Orchard, and desert) do the gems drop for him?

Essentially, could I start my flagging process before even reaching current lev cap in those areas?

I would think that as long as you can enter the outdoor area you would be able to get the gem, but stranger things have happened.

What are these gems for? We're all sub lvl 14, have never made gear, and would love to have a general idea of what they are for so we know whether to keep them.

they are used to flag for the new content, 3 are located in older outdoor areas, so if you get them, bank them and then when you are ready to do reavers refuge you will have less work to do
