    Hello!

You are not able to change your alignment in-game at this time.

    Hello Oskee.

Just for curiousity..... does that mean a way to change alignments is in the works, or at least plans?? Or did you word it that way to cover yourself in the event that plans change and it is later decided to make a way to change alignment??

Well, I don't think Raistlin ever really changed alignment. Even when he sacrificed himself for the world he only did it because he realised he couldn't win. I would say no.

I think it would be nice to be able to go see Fred and alter your alignment.

It could be cool for sure ... especially since Stability didn't get greater/superior versions and the utility of T.Neutral goes away after lvl 5 or so (unless cleric) but, if they wee to add it in I would hope that character alignment limitations would still be applicable.

As much as a paly-warchanter is appealing ...

This would defeat the reason to select an alignment.
It would be like adding the ability to port your stats to another race.

Your alignment is WHO YOUR CHARACTER IS. There is a long and hard process to change your alignment in PnP, wish I still had the books.

Being able to change action point allocation and a visit or 2 to Fred is enough. Might as well add changing race, gender and even retask calsses.

Or you could start roleplaying your PC in a more lawful/chaotic and/or good/evil way. A paladin could start disobeying the law but still pursue goodness and wind up becoming Chaotic Good.

In this game, given some of the quests, the ability to change your alignment based on character actions was probably intentionally left out.

Alignment change in PnP is trivial. I see no reason why it should be impossible in DDO.

The real problem, however, is that Turbine has neglected certain alignment choices when creating static items and in the random loot generator syntax.

Default An alignment shift would be a nice choice.

I have a Lvl 16 chaotic good bard, my most favorite toon to play. All I find limiting on the build is his alignment. I would change his alignment so I could wear some items which cannot be umd'ed for example Hruvayah's Medallion (Necklace, Spell Penetration VI, Taint of Evil* (End chest).

It's not worth it to reroll him, but if I had a choice (or could turn back time) I would make him true neutral. It would be nice to have the option in the game to do it. I'm not sure if it's game breaking rather more game enjoying. Lets hope the option comes out in the future, especially since the game is constantly changing so we should have the option to change with it.

Actually, changing alignment A) depended on the DM, and B) depended on what your character was like. You chose a starting alignment, then the DM could choose how to go about alignment changes.

Whenever I DM, I watch characters' actions and try to judge whether they're doing things that would warrant an alignment change, and if they do something drastic, I may change their alignment without giving them a warning. For example, a sorcerer in one of my groups found a gem that allowed him to create undead, except that the departed soul would come back in complete control of the undead body. A rogue in our group, absolutely determined to become undead, decided to make sure that it works on humans, first - he slit the throat of a bum and bluffed the sorcerer into turning the bum undead, simply to avoid any risk to himself. I made him evil on the spot (he'd been showing mildly evil tendencies before that, but nothing that drastic).

    QFT.

I think it would be interesting if Turbine allowed us to choose at character creation whether we wanted to lock our alignment or allow it to change with our actions. Then, they could apply certain alignment modifications to various quests, based on how they think the quest is aligned. It would allow those who like to role play a bit more versatility, and it would force those who want to play a bard/monk (or something else that would require an alignment change or two) to actually read through the quest details before deciding that they want to run through it.

However, I really don't think that the work required would be worth it, at this point. That's a very major modification, and would require quite a bit of extra coding to accomplish. Even though it's probably among my top ten wishes for DDO, I can probably content myself with going to play NWN if I want an environment that feels more like D&D.

Can you make a change out-of-game and merge changes then? Where should I send the name of my character?

I'd be all for allowing alignment changes through choices in quests, provided you pay for it as you should...

Loss of a level for starters.
Paladins going from LG to anything else lose their Paladin gifts..no more Aura, no more Chr save bonuses, no more LoH, no more Smites....and so on.

Alignment change in PnP IS a big deal, it's supposed to be something that happens because you do stuff that's not in accordance with your stated alignment. True enough for most classes it's not a big deal over all..except for that whole level loss bit, as you don't actually lose class abilities in most cases. Paladins and Monks..BIG deal, level loss, loss of class given abilities, usually other repercussions that have negative effects on the character like deities or religous orders deciding you've become a heretic and should pay for it...nasty stuff really. Clerics can also get very badly treated by alignment changes, oddly enough most deities aren't good with their clergy changing alignment and they get rather testy about that..no more spells, church members coming for you...not a happy time for most clerics.

Hello, hi, I'd like to become evil now... yes, I know, weird right?
Well, I am just sick and tired of saving the citizens of Khorvaire from devils and undead and never even getting a decent item as a reward.

So, please make me evil... er, make me evil now before I slice y'arm off!
