Default Petition - Roll back the "hotfix"

This is horrible. Ever since the "hot fix" I can't stand all the lag.

Test your "hotfixes" before releasing them on the production server. I thought this was development101/Software quality assurance/etc? Whatever you call it.

    This is not acceptable.

    Thumbs down

I'll sign that! My help window is even bugged out, says system null reference exception...I mean come on.

Isn't this what they have Risia for, so when they make changes that accidentally grind the engine to a halt they can fix them before releasing to the other, non-test servers?

    OY!

Roll it back and fix it before you go live. I'm not paying to beta test, some people like that, I don't.

This is the worst I've seen in two years.

Not a regular signature. We're talking a John Hancock on the Declaration type of signature.

Frankly, if whoever primarily did the coding for this 'hotfix' is one of the junior developers recently hired in your staff expansion, I think it might be time to send them on their way.

if you all remember, there was one reeeeally bad laggy time period for the game within the last year. this is quickly rising to that level.

and please whatever you do, DON'T attempt to "hotfix" this. Roll it back for now, fix it when someone knows whats going on in Turbine land

Been playing for hours today, didn't have any lag... sorry you guys did though... but perhaps its not the patch that did it.

ok, after writing what i just did, i then saw about 10 more posts on how bad the lag is, seriously tho, if anything i have had less lag the last couple of days... I am however, not playing from the US, so thinking maybe its something to do with connecting from there? I dunno how these things work, but if it was the patch or hotfix, then surely it would be worse for all of us.

Can't even move around town for the lag! Takes 58 seconds after my dancing spheres are supposed to appear until they do actually appear. All with 0% packet loss.

There are always regional differences that can get in the way (basically the path from A to B on the internet is busy, but C to B is a clear shot today, even through C may be further). Some of these differences are temporary, some are ongoing.

There can also be internet based problems from Turbine's ISP that may be ongoing or intermittant. Such problems would effect everyone online at that time pretty much at once.

There are also computer differences based on CPU, video card, etc, these tend to be consistant problems.

Then there are Turbine induced problems. Some of these can be computer based (the lastest patch doesn't work on Video cards from ATI, or that rely on DivX10 etc)

And finally there are Turbine induced problems at Turbine's end (new patch is sending bad queries, new patch is trying to move too much between clients, new patch is causing DB bottleneck, etc)

So how do you tell them appart? When everyone says "lag spike" at differnt times its hard and probably means its user based (even if Turbine induced) or internet traffic based. However, when everyone gets it at the same time we can look to Turbine. And that's what we are seeing here. Everyone is fine, and then all of a sudden in the instance you are in everything gets evil for everyone in that instance. Since they all use different computers and come from differnet places that puts it squarly in the "its on Turbine's end" camp so its either the last one, or an interent problem with Turbine's ISP. This is percisely the kind of problem we have been seeing, so its on their end.

This is a great way to look at all the lag issues.
However, I would like to point out; the lag issues I see effect everyone in group. Whenever you have more than 3 monsters coming to attack you, everyone feels it.

The speed of the internet connection and computer/vid card have nothing to do with it. It is very clear that ever since the patch lag has increased.

I've experienced the same nonsense in different quests the past 2 days or so. The entire group lags out at the same time for a minute or two. Doesn't seem to make any difference what the quest is, whether it's 6 or 12 party members, or how many AOE spells are popping off at the time. Last time was on the run to Coalescence Chamber...all 6 of us lagged hard just coming up out of the water with no mobs in sight

That takes the biscuit it really does. Calling for someone to lose their job has got to be the height of wah wah wah. I'm totally astounded at the depths some of you guys can sink to.

I have no idea what you guys are complaining for. This sort of stuff happens in EQ2 all the time. They call it "working as intended".

Dont think its the hotfix. Other MMO's are experiencing the same thing some issues with AT&T? I'm not an expert in the area but there are some recent articles about it.

It's waaaay too late for a roll-back. Ouch.
