Hello. I'm a noob to DDO and am wondering if there was a reason half orcs aren't available for play. Maybe I missed the reason somewhere.

Yeah, the devs didn't develop them for the initial release. They are expected to be available later this year.
Its in the works....... maybe end of this year or begining of the next.
as to why.............. I would imagine its te same reason why gnomes,1/2 elves, kalashtar, druids, monks....I'll stop there
limited time, space, money and resources in general to put all this stuff in a game that has 30 years of history and several hundred worlds fully populated with races and nations.
The shear size of D & D is tremendous and there is no way you can fit all of it on 1 -2 - 3 - even 4 discs in 1 life time (or at least not in 2008)
look for DDO 10.0 to have fully virtual worlds that cover all of D&D's history due for realease in 2068)

I'll be 90 .... OMG!!!!!
If Im alive I'll be way to angry to play anything. At 90 I have the right to be angry for no reason at all ......... Its my legal right to make everyone elses life miserable If I want to, because I was tortured as a youth by old people who hate young people and I intend to return the favor.
Im gunna speed, shop lift, throw eggs, jay walk, key your car, flip the bird at authority figures and call everyone I meet drug addicts.
Just because Im 90 and you really cant do anything to punish me anymore![]()

Ok. TY all.
Also, what is the current level cap ingame?
Is there PvP in DDO and if so in what form?
Current lvl cap 16. Next Mod..which is Mod 7 we get Monks. Mod 8 is an expected lvl cap bump to 20.

Alice: I was just wondering if you could help me find my way. Cheshire Cat: Well that depends on where you want to get to. Alice: Oh, it really doesn't matter.. Cheshire Cat: Then it really doesn't matter which way you go. -Alice in Wonderland
Ok, one more question I guess. Does DDO use the standard Tank/DPS/Healer grouping model like in WoW, or do they do things differently?
uhm...lost?
Just kidding. :P
This is not WoW. You will have dynamics here. Characters will be built based upon how a player likes to play and not striclty based upon class.
And to give a legitimate answer: yes, no and not really.
never mind my smart ass humor - Welcome to DDO!! Be sure to have a little patience if everything you knew about "gaming" was based upon World of Warcraft. While WoW is a polised game it's also designed for the lowest denominator. DDO is going to challenge you to think outside of the box and reward you for employing a strategy.
A Cleric isn't always going to be a great healer just 'cs it's the primary class of the character. A lot has to do with the character build and who's playing it. I frequently complete quests without Clerics so you'll not be entirely crippled for not having on in a party, but they can make a difference.

"Nuke 'm or Die!"
Primary healer - Cleric
Secondary - Bard
Peripheral - Ranger, Paladin, Rogue or any high Use Magic Device (UMD) player
Primary DPS - Barbarian, Fighter
Secondary - Paladin, Ranger, Rogue
Peripheral - Bard or any caster with Tensors Transformation
Primary Nukers - Wiz, Sorcerer
Secondary - Ranger (build dependent)
Primary Crowd Control - Wizards, Bards
Secondary - Sorcerer, Clerics
Peripheral - Any DPS class with good intimidate ability
Primary Buffs - Cleric, Wizard, Bard
Secondary - Sorcerer, Paladin
Trapsmithing - Rogue
And characters can be multiclasses with up to three of the aforementioned classes.
Monks coming in a little over a month (estimated)
Thats a very hard question that I tried to answer 3 times now and each time grew to a 10 paragraph essay and erased.
Im simply gunna say:
No it does not follow the WOW model. It does things differently. Dont judge a book by its cover in DDO a spade is not a spade.
I met a pure rogue once who carried a great axe and the group silently laughed at his choice of weapons................... untils he started killing everything in house K in 2 swings that is. TRUE STORY 2-3 swings tops = dead

level cap is 16, and will be going to 18 late this summer. level 20 will be comming late this year or early next year.
There is PVP in many forms. You can do tavern brawls which are free for all in most taverns. You can do team fighting in those tavern by talking to the PVP guy. And you can play raid dungeons in red/blue style competitively.
Yeah, ty. I'm really starting to like DDO much more than WoW. It's got a special undefining charm to it. Something about seeing all my past pen & paper adventures come to life. Much like playing Baulders Gate for the first time :-)
Plus the DDO forums are so much nicer than the WoW forums.
