Welcome to another edition of Tell the Team!
If you missed last week's questions, you're welcome to answer them now in addition to this week's:
Question 1
Each week we ask questions about a range of subjects. What is a question you would ask?
I've missed a few, so I don't know what has already been asked. I think I would ask something along the lines of what features are most useful currently for guilds, and what we would most like to see.
Question 2
In any game, what types of PVP do you enjoy engaging in?
A) I don't enjoy PVP
B) Free for all death match
C) Team vs Team
D) Dueling
E) Specialized PVP rules sets (capture the flag, tag, etc)
Not a huge pvp player, but I always loved playing the team vs team death matches in halo. Doesn't work as well in DDO unless you limit by class. DDO I enjoy 1v1 melee, but it's just something to do in spurts between quests, nothing serious-like.
Question 3
A "Town Hall" was held on Risia, where the Community Team went in game to have an open forum for players to voice their concerns. This is a little different format than our "Dev Chats," where developers answer questions, and Dev Chats are still an activity that will continue. What are your thoughts about "Town Hall"?
I attended the Risia Town Hall meeting, and to be totally honest, I found it to be chaotic and not productive in the least. The main things that were brought up had all be posted and rehashed on the forums, and anyone who is playing on Risia should be keeping track of the forums, it is a test server, after all. I much prefer the forum given by DDOcast, where multiple questions can be sorted and filtered, and then presented to the devs without all the spam. And with DDOcast being weekly, the devs have opportunity to keep us up to date. Yay. Thanks again Jerry. I may not always agree with Jerry's views, but I love what he and the DDOcast crew do.
This week's question(s) are:
Question 1
When playing DDO, do you engage in any of the following activities? List your favorite first if you have more than one...
- Specialized Character Building (ranged combat specialist, “haggle bots”, experimental class combinations)
- Social Activities (Roleplaying, Player held events, Player run games, etc)
- Alternate Rules Sets (perma-death, no gear questing, static group, etc)
- Milestones & Collections (Capping characters, Completing all raids, Collecting special items, etc)
Tough one for me here. I do all four. Specialized character building and Milestone/Collections are definitely at the top of my list. Look at my character page in my sig, for goodness' sake! I have also run and participated in player run events, and who doesn't love nekkid tempest?
Question 2
Imagine that you are playing DDO and something wonderful happens, something so good that you can’t believe that it’s true. Suddenly things become misty, and you realize you were asleep, and it was all just a dream. What would the dream be about?
Being able to participate (and win! this is a dream after all) in that sweet japanese game event that i saw the video of. That looked like DDO meets Mario, weeeee! Wish I could have been there... but then I'd have to move, learn a different language and... Two languages in one mind? No one can live at that speed!
Question 3
What is your favorite quest – a quest you love so much that you find yourself playing it constantly – and why is it your favorite?
Toughie! I run them all, many of them many, many times. I even wrote a book about it! (exaggerated, of course). Sorry, I can't narrow it down to one, just too many factors depending on mood. I still think gianthold has some of the best quests. I love the Crucible, and the Tor, and at the risk of sounding cheesey, I think PoP is a brilliant quest, if a little on the easy side. Not really a big fan of any of the Necro/Orchard stuff, though Inferno is creative. The Vale quests are all topnotch, imo, and I've been having fun running them all into the ground, recently.
Bah, I guess Crucible. It has do-able puzzles, range of enemies, some fun traps (more disarmables would be nice), tough fights, tests and rough situations with optionals that incorporate ingame skills and player skills... you really feel like you are trying to run the gauntlet in this one. Crucible is aptly named. With all of that though, the quest is still completable, and it uses every member of the party to get it done. Fun. Nothing newer out there with this sense of achievement as my first Crucible Elite run. (of course now its all about who can do it fastest!
