    Default Play More, Spend Less!

To celebrate Dungeons and Dragons Online™: Stormreach™'s second anniversary, we're proud to announce special anniversary subscription pricing!

For a limited time, the Dungeons and Dragons Online special anniversary promotion lets new and existing subscribers play for only $9.99 a month when they sign up for six months of service for the special price of $59.94 (subject to certain terms and conditions). That’s nearly $18 off the regular 6 month subscription price!

Players who subscribe to the new plan will continue to be billed $59.94 every six months for as long as they maintain an active account with Dungeons and Dragons Online, or until they choose a different billing plan. Players who currently subscribe to Dungeons and Dragons Online and select the special offer will be transferred to the anniversary subscription package once they have completed their current subscription plan.

This offer ends on April 7, 2008. Head over to http://myaccount.turbine.com for more details and the terms and conditions!

What about those of us who pay by the year already? Any special rate? Will it be the same?

Nice! Except I don't see it as a billing choice. The choices are either 1 month, 3 months, or 12 months.

I just did this myself. I chose the new billing plan and it's locked in. My next billing date stayed the same, but the billing plan is indeed marked Special. Just don't mess with your billing plan in the future (unless they come out with a lower price ).

It was there for me... I just switched over.

I liken it to paying a drug dealer in advance... but who am I kidding. I'll take 6 months of crack at a reduced rate.

Yeah, the option didn't show up the first time I went to the page, but if you log out and relog it will appear.

Yeah, I just went and changed it to 6 months to get the special rate as well. I am guessing that the number of annual subscribers was fairly low, so the bonus made the most sense at 6 months.

Bummer. Yes, you'll have to wait until next December to see the savings. But, if you sign up now, you should keep this reduced rate when your next billing date comes up.

Switch both my son's and my own subscription to 6 months instead of annual. Strange that a shorter, more flexible timeframe has a lower cost, but I'm not going to complain.

Thoughts on why they did this:
    1. They have a lot of casual players who played so little that $15/month seemed like too much. So, $10/month
    2. Some players chew through the new content in a month, and then leave for 3-4 months. With a lower price, they'll re-up and won't bother to suspend their accounts.
    3. They're going to drop the annual subscription even more, but haven't gotten around to it yet.
    4. They think they're going to have a huge influx of new players coming up, and wanted to give the existing players preferred pricing.
    5. The new CEO wants to experiment with different pricing models, to see what happens with cancellations and new subscirptions (i.e. are potential players price-sensitive?)
    6. DDO is such a phenomenally profitable game that they felt obliged to give something back to the players

    Any others? :-)

    Default Cool

I'm glad to see this. Both my accounts for a $120.00 a year. Very nice.

Was wondering if we'd ever see an option to purchase an additional character for an account.

Strange that 2 x 6 months should cost less than 12 months... surely you should be rewarding those customers willing to commit for a year more than those willing to commit for 6 months????!
