    Default paladin level 4 spells?

i'm sure paladins get level 4 spells at 14, but the compendium doesn't say so. I realize the compedium is often missing info or is wrong, so can someone tell me what spells paladins get at 14? im contemplating taking 2 levels of fighter and level 4 spells are the only thing that might make me stay pure.

    At level 14 Paladins get

    3 x 1st level,
    2 x 2nd level,
    2 x 3rd level, and
    1 x 4th level spells.

The fourth level spells to select from are:

    Break Enchantment,
    Cure Serious Wounds,
    Death Ward,
    Holy Sword,
    Neutralize Poison, and
    Restoration.

Holy Sword? What does that do? Sound fun

Gives you a +5 holy cold iron(insert weapon type here) that also grants protection from evil. You need a special spell component and the sword drops upon leaving the dungeon.

Don't forget, the spell components don't stack.

The components are a plain sword of that type to convert to the Holy sword so you can't get a stack of them. Another worthless spell for us

My (450+ spell points) Paly usually keeps Death Ward focused to off load the cleric having to cast it when a quest has any undead in it. If I remember to change for some reason, I might swap it out, but really all of the other spells seem redundant.

Break Enchantment DC never seems to work
Cure Serious Wounds (CSW wands, or Cure Mod Spell, or LoH instead)
Death Ward (unless you have Multiple Visor of the Render)
Holy Sword (neat sounding, but need ingredients (house J has them), but often have as good or better weapons to use by level 14.
Neutralize Poison (Wand works just as well, if anyone is really suffering from poison at those levels.)
Restoration (Useful alternative to Death Ward) but often need it to fix things that would have been blocked by Death Ward, so its seems kinda redundant in that way.

So Deathward is the biggie on the list from a day to day practical standpoint for my Paladin.

As an impoverished level 14 Paladin, here is my take on the spells.

Restoration is real handy for clearing up negative levels when there isn't a cleric around, but the fact it is in the list means you can buy scrolls for it and use them on those occassions, so other than clearing people up when resting in a tavern, it doesn't get the spell slot very often.

Death Ward is a solid choice.

Holy Sword is probably my most commonly used spell in that slot. I don't have anything better than a +5 Holy Cold Iron Dwarven Axe. Sure, the components are a bit of a pain, but I only buy them in lots of two- or three- at a time. The weapon lasts through the entire time you are in the dungeon.

Default My experience with 4th lvl spells

Just to share my experience with 4th level paladin spells...

Instead of Death Ward, I keep Break Enchantment memorized - especially if solo or small groups. It will remove some unwanted effects cast on me or my companions. And it will remove some unpleasant area of effects - most notably blade barrier. It does not remove any beneficial effects like resist energy - fire, so don't be conserned about that.

In quests where beholders or chaos orbs are likely to be encountered, I memorize Restoration. Saves the cleric 100-200 spell points if I restore my negative levels myself.

Also Restoration is good in quests where you or party members may suffer alot of ability reduction, say to strength or charisma, as one casting of Restoration will restore them to full. Also, it will eliminate fatigue with one casting or exhaustion with two, but potions of lesser restore will do the same.

Personnaly, I found the 4th level spells to be a good reason to go to 14th level.

Death Ward hands down, for those Pali's that took Extend Spell, 28 minutes of Death Ward is nice and can save the Cleric some mana.

I found it to be very useful in the new Mod. 5 quests, my Death Ward effect kept popping like flash bulbs.

Also, I tend to carry a stack of Restoration scrolls, you can cast them without fail just like you would the spell, costs a bit of coin but I look at it as getting 2 for 1 for my level 4 sspell slot.

Question, if someone does know, can you have more than 1 "Holy Sword" at a time?
Hi, I play Generic Fantasy RPG Online, formerly known as DDO.

You can have more than one, but you can only use it, yourself.
