How is it the devs have time to make changes to house k for the winter festival but there is no time to update the mabar gear which is one level cap change behind and then crystal cove gear which is two level cap changes behind. cuteness shmuteness.

Not really. If you are VIP, you get four passes per day (I still have some left over from last year, now that I think about it...). Getting a 700+ score is incredibly easy, with time left over. I did one run earlier and got 300 and some odd motes. I would have enough motes in around a week to get a pet...which I don't need because I got one last year. That is my actual complaint...the only thing I see worth getting on that side of the rift is the shadow cookies...
