Holy Symbol of Lolth

I posted this over in Gameplay & Game Systems, but no one reading that forum seems to know the answer, so I'll try asking here:

The Holy Symbol of Lolth is a great trinket for certain classes - it's listed on the new items list with drop location unknown (been copied to http://ddowiki.com/page/Update_14_named_items).

Anyone know where to get it?

It's a pretty awsome item for divines.

I believe it can drop from the chain reward for completing all 4 quests in the drow city, but i'm not sure. Got mine in the daughter chest in house of death undone.



It's funny because the armor named "Embrace of the spider queen" has proof against poison +6.

Just to be clear, there's a chest in the Daughter's room, this is the one you mean? I didn't see a chest with the Matron herself, but the quest doesn't seem to be working 100%.

I overheard the treason, talked to the matron, told her about the plot against her, she said she'd kill her daughter...then I went to the daughter's room and the daughter was dead and turned into a zombie by the necromancer. Killed all of that, looted chest (no symbol), and went back to the matron, who acted like I've never talked to her before. I said "Nevermind, I'll come back later", and she called out for guards and her daughter(!) to kill me...wiped out the guards, and the matron had vanished.

Is the matron chest you speak of one for killing the matron herself, and is different from the one I found?

It is from a chest that spawns from killing the Matron I believe, thats not to say that it doesn't also come from the chest when you kill the daughter either, this could also be a possibility.

Mine dropped on zombie-daughter chest. Couldnt fight with the matron, but you can fight and there is another chest.

It's likely to be a very rare drop (not surprisingly seeing it's really powerful). Anyway, I decided to try and get one today. I have ransacked both chests (Matron and daughter) on hard difficulty - no luck. Also ran the whole chain 4 times s far and it never showed up in end rewards, either.

yeh same, ransacked on normal both matron and optional zombie girl, with 2 others in party. no drop.

please explain. is this beta only info?

i wouldnt say its that powerful just has a decent amount of stuff on it thats needed by divines. 90 sp isnt super high most trash loot has 106+

Soloed (on live) with my monk on normal, got the item in zombie-daughter chest.

Today got the wiz robe with +8 int on normal too, but i'm not getting the things that my monk need

Just hit ransack on the matron chest and the daughter chest, running hard on my PM. No named items, and only a few commendations. On to the next toon, I guess.

EDIT: Ransacked the Matron and Daughter chests on 3 toons, fair amount of commendations and one Seal of House Szind. 48 pulls total, all on hard.

It's also AFAIK the only non-weapon item with spellcasting implement in-game.
It allows me to wear an alchemical (with conviniently has devotion) and a greensteel as weapons, neither of which have spellcasting implements or radiance/impulse/potency, but have some other awsome effects (greater spell pen 9, stacking 2 wisdom, exp 2 con, stacking conc opp etc...), all the while stay near top-end spell power on every single divine spell that matters for now.

It really is an amaizing item if you manage to make use of it at its fullest.

The item solves an issue I was having on my fvs...which is swapping weapon sets for everything which in itself takes away from effieciency. And it will allow me to keep a healing amp/conc opp sword in hand a lot more. Drop is horrible though...sacked 2 toons with a guildy and niether of us saw one.
