Which means, they think they're responsible enough to start a family, but not smart enough to act rationally when threatened.

That is just way cool, thanks for that info.
So, I was just going to ask about it;s loot, too funny!
Can we by chance get the ages of other dragons here in stormreach?

Wait... Aussircaex, the dragon that the giants are attacking when we arrive in Prey, is the male? I thought the dragon the comes to help (Aussiroth) if you decide to reject the offered deal was "her" mate.

Or is it just an assumption that the female would be the one most directly protecting the eggs?

I would make the group understand what kind of dragon they may be facing in that quest, either by earlier storytelling, how it had killed e.g. a bunch of legendary adventurers (point out to this group that they ARE complete beginners), or by showing how it kills some NPC.

Maybe this NPC could be the village champion who has easily beaten down the best player of the group in a mock fight in the village and thus demanded them to follow him to Misery's Peak as a price. Seing the foolish NPC getting killed with one hit must make the group reconsider attacking the dragon

Whoa there pilgrim I was stating if you were to follow the story line. Yes YOU'RE the DM, It's your world, Like an artist that holds the brush, he decides where & how things go on the canvas. Keep us updated on how it goes.

Cavalier idea! + 1 sir! Too funny, taking a new player to the game, and showing them a slaughter as advice & a warning! I love it.

It all looks half-assed because it's under development
This is really cool! I love minis, and your work is fantastic.

Sorry for the grain, using a phone cam, on a ladder, leaning out over the bench!
Upper left is Ravenloft, probably the best module ever released.

So the DM used the wrong pronoun?

Huh...I thought it was the reverse. Aussiroth was male, and Aussircaex was female.

Shame it's sort of in the game than the players get to kill both of them. I wonder what happens to their eggs in that case? Maybe Cydonie could take care of the baby dragons. She seems responsible enough.

Edit: Also, homosexuality among dragons. I don't think I've ever seen that in any professional content.

Eberron lore doesn't follow the alignment restrictions associated to color of dragons like the basis in the MM.

In Eberron it is possible to have a Chaotic Evil Silver Dragon and a Lawful Good Red Dragon.

In DDO I believe Velah is Chaotic Evil, but to a greater extent, she was more of an Idealist, not really a brutal murderer. She believed in sacrificing the few for the good of the many.

These comments (about Aussircaex's gender, not their sexuality which we'd implied from the eggs in an IVF-free world) definitely run counter to the DM voiceover in Prey.

Aussiroth's existence is only revealed if you decide to fight them, but one DM voiceover before you make that decision states something like "The dragon, tired from her injuries, pauses to rest for a moment. She beckons you closer."

I believe when you threaten Aussircaex, there's another comment from the DM along the same lines, although I can't remember for sure. Will check when my current TR gets to that level range.

Edit: Oh and how do young adult dragons have hitpoint totals in the six figures???

I'll type in the Monster Manual paragraph:
Among the smallest and least intelligent of dragonkind, most white dragons are simply animalistic predators. Their faces express single-minded ferocity rather than the shrewdness of their more powerful kin.

They are still pretty intelligent by human standards. Can't check the 3.5 SRD (seems down atm), but Pathfinder's SRD has them 14 Int at Old and 18 at Great Wyrm.

14 Int translates roughly to top 15% of humans (A-grade student), 18 to top 0.5% (dux of the school).

My bad, I got the genders wrong.

It's the other way around. I think the database got them wrong, too.
