Default Static group needs help with Tempest Spine raid

    Hi,

I run a static group on Sarlona at 19:00 UK time (EST -5). I'd like us to do the Tempest Spine raid, but obviously with only 5 of us it would be a bit difficult.

I don't know the raid well enough to be confident leading a PuG through it.

So what I'm looking for is a guild who'd be happy to help fill out the raid and either let me lead on the understanding that I may screw it up, or lead through in a non-zerging fashion.

We're all level 10, and the normal group is a Cleric, a Barbarian, a Sorceror, a Fighter and a Rogue.

I can bring a sorcerer. And we can PuG the rest.

I have a level 9 sorcerer on Sarlona.

OMB a run with the Self Proclaimed Goddess of Tempest Spine! Run for your lives!

:P Now seriously there's probably no one more qualified than DoctorWhofan to lead you in Tempest Spine.

Thanks for the offer - I'll run that past the group.

Is the time okay for you? Our normal day is Thursdays.

Hmmm, I think that time works out to about lunch time for me... I could try and get Kryzii (9Fvs/2Mnk) to fill in a space, but I'm not familiar with the quest either. It would indeed be a feather in my cap to run with Dr.WhoFan on this quest (or any other)!

    Default hi

I have a level 9 wizard that would be happy to show you how to run the raid. I am slightly confused on the time, is that 1:00 pm cst? I ask cleric to bring deathward , freedom of movement, and raise dead. Rogue to listen if he cant find trap boxes i will show him where to look and provide trap buffs. All fighting classs to bring high to hit weapons, vanilla +5s will work, some adamantine/metaline weapons or smiters, and if possible cold iron pure good /holy weapons. You will need bubble heads or underwater action. Be prepared that anyone can and most likely will die at sometime. I know you may be asking how your group with 1 level 9 wizard will be sucessful ? That is easy if your willing to learn and not brag about your gear I will help. All failures account for people using vc talking about their leet gear/ uber player instead of listening to critical instructions. There can also be panic, at all costs never panic!!!

With the good Doctor in the house, everything else could be optional since it looks like your core group has all the other key things covered, except perhaps for INT stat, but seriously many Rogues might be able to hit those runes at least with a Eagles Spendor. The only other key for that quest is certain types of gear to more easily handle some of the mobs. (ie get past their DR more readily).

Good luck and have fun, it is a very cool quest. (at least first couple of dozen times thru it....)

    Not Eagle's Fox's.

18 normal and 20 on Hard and elite. I just say 20 to simplify things.

FOr a basic well rounded group for TS you need: 2 clerics, at LEAST 2 casters, 5 DPS, and someone with INT of 20. Everything else is cake.

Duh, so that was why my pretty boy Ranger kept clanking on the runes..... Groan...thats what I get when eating and typing at the same time...argh!

Actually my Ranger/Rogue could hit 20 INT at those levels so he was able to snag the runes a number of times when we had no WIZ along and everyone forgot. "saved the day" or at least saved that way to the top.

It's ok. I am lucky I can remember my name before the morning caffiene.

Seriously, I have taken 11 n00bs, and I MEAN N00BS, to thetop of TS and beaten it, PuGs are easy. New players are a BLAST in that quest. I'll do the whole Tourguide thing for the new players. Heck, I do it for the vets!

    @DrWhoFan - Much appreciated.

Any equipment or spells that they should be expected to have with them?

    My character's name is Anvida.

empty your back packs as much as possible.

Cold AND Fire spells..blur and haste. Jump...wait, I'll have that. FoM

We are fighting Fire stuff, Drow, giants, rust monsters, a few beholders, and such.

Under Water action items and/or spells are needed for one spot.

The make room in your backpacks comment is an important one. This was THE LOOT run for much of the first year. There are quite a few chests that can be found in this quest (some only with certain rare spawns) but you can expect to get at least 8 I think.

There are a number of shrines as well, so Spell points should not be a problem.

There is even a grown up version of Searing Heights fire zones to explore in the outside portions (that is not part of the core quest, but can give some EXP for killing enough mobs if I recall correctly) if you want to explore around out there. Lots of Fire dudes and Fire Giants, even a shrine or two although they might be hard to get to.)

Tempest Spine was THE End Game quest back in 2006. On Elite those Drow Blackguards were seriously hard to kill or even hit back then.

I can do normal with level 8 thru 10 with basically equipped new players. A few 7's is fine but most likely cannot hit the broad side of a barn in there.

For sure. however noobs today have access to a number of things noobs of yesteryear lacked, like the Korthos Isle to hit twinkage, many new Enhancements, and clearly some new gear that has shown up, not to mention changes in game mechanics.

I recall having my Weapon Finesse guy even take the Precision Feat (for another +4 to hit) to make it so I could fairly reliably land my Destruction attacks to drop those blackguards AC by 4 points so most full BAB melees had a reasonable chance to hit more than miss. And some fighters speced in Sunder to drop AC as well in there. Almost no other quest had those kind of demands back then. It was THE quest, and still is one of the most fun quests to undertake with a group.

You can probably tell the mettle of the group 98% of the time by how well they do in the Fire/Ice encounter. If that goes well, then you are likely to have a more or less smooth time. If it goes poorly, then the nature of the players in the group will almost certainly show.
