I think I read somewhere that turbines network provider was doing some maintenance schedule Monday. Did you notice any difference Tuesday night?

Mmmm mmm laggy!
Lag so bad tonight we could only move about 5 feet every 5 seconds. Took 5 minutes to get 10% of the way through STK part 1. Stuck in place for more than 20 seconds several times:

Gotta love when it lags so hard even the tile lights won't light up.

Nothing else that Turbine develops or does for the community will matter if they do not fix this horrendous lag. I've been playing forever and it has recently become oftentimes unplayable. Even at 6am today, we were lagged out for 5-10 seconds at a time in Monastery.
One of the guys mentioned that Turbine may have converted DDO into turn-based. It really felt like it. This happens in every Shroud and regularly other times.
Turbine needs to put in a Sev 1 ticket with their server provider and index some tables, run some trace files or simply add more hampsters until the root cause can be found and resolved.
In over 3 years, the current state of server side lag is the only thing that has ever made me consider leaving DDO.

I took a month off while changing deweling locations in the RW, during that time I upgraded my aging PC granted its not an Intel i7 with tri-channel ram and linked (SLI/Xfire) dual GPU cards but it is plenty of power and ram to run DDO at full graphical display and even on low setting VoD last night was at time like watching a slide show. Really depressing for the coin put into the upgrade, but Crysis runs like a champ.![]()

Of course it's my PC!!!
I had no lag 2 years ago on my p4 2.4 with 2 gb of ram and an ati x1800. Silly me, now I'm only running a quad 2.5 with 8gb of ram and 2 x nvidia 9800 gtx.
I guess it's time to upgrade.![]()

WE all know that these pics are all staged!
Lag is made up.
Lag is just an excuse that sh*tty clerics use when they let you die
Oddly enough while I have experienced lag it has always only been a momentary flicker. Run in place for 20-30 seconds and then over with. It has gotten worse in the last 3 months, but I have NEVER seen the lag people keep bringing up on the forum.
That doesn't mean it doesn't exist, but if it was as prevalent as people are making it out to be, I would be experiencing it in much the same manner as they. Since I do not experience it in the same manner I can't say for sure it is fully Turbine's fault. I have a good strong connection but a very average computer for DDO. DDO basically eats up all my memory so I can't run much beyond it.
I wonder if it is worse in some raids because the DDO server is waiting for a response it is not getting from one or more of the clients. That would mean that one person's lag could be compounding the issue for all in that Instance.
I do know that some people experience MORE lag than others. Evidence is in this very thread where you have one person that didn't make it through a barrier, one person stuck in the air, a couple that get stuck. Explain how variable lag between people in one instance is going to be Turbine's fault alone? Yes, they have lag on the DDO servers, but I don't believe it all originates from there, or is the sole cause of what people are complaining about.

In the photo where I am on the other side of the barrier . . . its not that I didn't make it through, its that I lagged outside of the barrrier. I was . . . displaced . . . by lag. Turbine knows they have a problem. They just aren't talking about it but they need to start.

Funny things I've seen with lag (sorry, no screenshot available):
- Pit Fiend dropping 4 DBFs simultaneously, instantly wiping all non-evasion melees
- Air elemental being invisible to me. Since I was the only one not seeing it I guess I was the only one who got that big lag spike, but it was somewhat funny to see everyone get thrown around (was in Sor'jek part 4), yelling at me (I was the caster), and me thinking "*** is going on"
- Listening to Gaxpar's voice chat in fast forward (that was my client catching up), you know he already talks a lot, imagine how it was...
