    Default Talk me out of this…

    I need a couple of cleric lives and, having slogged through, a heroic life and going to do two iconics.

    Rather than do a pure Cleric castling build I can’t see any reason not to go 16Cleric/4FvS for Aov enhancements. Will probably go Fire Domain and it just feels like I’ll get all CL/MCL benefits for Fire Storm, Flame Strike, Sun Bolt and Searing Light without too many drawbacks on other spells.

    I’ll mainly be soloing and joining PUGs where possible. Little to no raiding and little time at cap.

    Not done cleric in epics though so may we’ll be missing something…

    Going this route does remove level 9 spells as an option as well as reduce spell penetration.

    Is the goal to go as a Cleric with Light and Fire Casting? If so, what is lacking in Divine Disciple that you feel AoV of FvS gains you?

    cleric life, slog? What domains did you play as? Because air domain(divine disciple for slas) tears **** up. Chain lightning is amazing.

    Yes Cleric with Light and Fire (mainly). I guess that’s the point, the only thing I’d really be giving up are the two upper cores in DD whilst boosting MCL, crit and some SP. I figured I’d be mainly using domain/DD spells so losing lvl 9s wouldn’t hurt so much but I guess implosion is nice.

    I made the dubious decision to play a melee cleric with Barb levels. I mean it’s fine but I’m used to Arcane AOEs and FvS. Haven’t done any cleric lives on this toon, in fact at all, since domains came out….

    Caster cleric a beast. 2x holy smites is wild. As for not going 20 cleric, giving up level 9 spells is a shame; celestial Bombardment is pure awesomeness and those 4 caster levels are good have.

    What is Celestial Bombardment? Can’t find it anywhere in the wiki. Spell or ED ability?

    It use to be an ED ability Top Tier. I believe the ED ability from Exalted Angel AoE Light + Healing also became a spell (can't remember the name)

    Since you have not gone with cleric since domains were added - I would recommend giving a 20 cleric a go, embrace the domain. If you still find it lacking next life adjust.

    Just go pure Cleric. If you pick a domain with DD SLA's you'll be very happy with the result.

    I highly recommend Fire as it gives you SLA Wall of Fire and Firestorm both of which are pure gas in most instances.

    Ok, I think you've convinced me! Thank you - I shall do a pure casting cleric, probably with Fire Domain and try it all out!

    Will leave some thoughts once I'm done.

    That's Divine wrath, also a level 9 spell now.

    I've added those 2 spells to Wiki.

    Stepping into Epics you will feel lack of those 2 spells alot. Those 2 are basics of Cleric's DPS on Epics. Both are AOE (1d6+9)/level with extra quirks.

    Race: Dragonborn, Fire Ancestry
    AP:
    21 Dragonborn (+3 to Evocation, +30 fire spell power, +1 CL to fire spells, +2 MCL to fire spells)
    15+ Feydark (spray, wisdom, spellcrit)
    41+ DD

    Not much AP left for AoV anyway.

    Bombardment is actually more then 1d6+9 as it has multiple hits. Quick testing had each of the hits doing 1D6+9 damage, which is extremely powerful and only balanced by it's 30s cooldown.
