    Default TR-Friendly Vet Status

Severlin mentioned in some of his latest remarks that with Ravenloft we may be getting a Vet Status upgrade to allow people to start at level 10 so they can go straight to the Ravenloft content.

Okay, sure, sounds good, but I have a suggestion:

Please, please, PLEASE put in a vet status that makes TRing a little easier, so that you can start at, say, level 4, or 7, (or 10!).

My suggestion would be to tie each level of TR vet status to a completionist type. There are currently two types of completionist in the game (heroic, epic) and the possibility of a third (racial) or even a fourth (iconic)--although that last one should be a special case, I think. So, my idea would be that if you have one of the first 3 AND vet status, your TR character can start at level 4. If you have 2 completionists (heroic and epic, say), you can start at 7. If you have 3 (if they implement racial) you can start at 10. And if you have iconic (if it's ever implemented), you can start your iconic character (only) at level 20.

They'd be optional, just like existing vet status where you start on the airship and decide how you want to proceed. If they come out with new races/classes you'd have to do those from a lower level since you'd have to regain at least one completionist.

    Sound reasonable?

It's been discussed before and never got a positive response.

No, it doesn't sound reasonable. TRing is already easy.

I am all for this although make it a challenge to get 1 TR level per 1000 K Favor or make it an account wide store buyable tier (tiers 1 through 10 1000TP each).

i think im getting this right but if not im sure someone will correct it.

    1st there was no tr'ing.
2nd there was tr'ing but it took 4 million+ xp
3rd this was lowered to 3.8 million
4th bravery bonus was added to make it easyier
5th we have loads more quests now so its easyier to do a no repeat tr.
6th reaper was added, so now its even easyier to tr as base xp is now higher.

now you want to start at lvl 7-10 wow. why dont you just ask the devs to give
you a tr for free just because youve logged in.

    Reasonable?

Only if the Devs want to make it even harder for newbies, casuals and altoholics to catch up!

What your suggestion would do is make it easier for those who've already got completionist or e-completionist or racial completionist to get more lives but would do nothing for those who haven't got any of those!

Vet Status should give Lvl 4 start EVERY Life! And always should have done!
Vet II should give Lvl 7 start EVERY Life! And always should have done!
Vet III should.....Oh heck at this point just have Vet III give Lvl 10 start on 1st Life and Lvl 4 start on 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc. etc. and at least that will be something!

If you're going to speed up lives you need to speed up ALL Lives not just those of characters who've already got a tonne under their belts!

Your way would just widen the gap AGAIN!

    This.

People are already complaining about the 3 day limit. Sheesh, as if it had to be easier.

how bout this - you can use the optionof vet status

but then you have to make up the levels

so if you use vet status 4 - you have to go to 24 before you tr.

Yeah sure, it can be the reward for when you have triple heroic, epic, racial and iconic completionist.

I just don't feel there's a need for it. Getting to level 4 is quick enough as is and level 7 would be too much.

A TR-friendly thing would be sorting out the "temporary fix" TR cache. Even keeping the first tab of your bank items in your bank when reincarnating would help.

    (a more serious response...)

Apologies for my brushoff post earlier.

What you are proposing would seriously reduce traffic in the starting areas - Korthos, The Harbor, The Market. This would (even further) isolate new players, who are already at a disadvantage to integrate with lowbie TR's.

It would be a death knell for the game. Imo.

I'd be fine with this, although it might make it prohibitive to code.

Considering almost all the complaints I see from new players are along the lines of "ZOMG ALL THESE ZERGERS ARE SO HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!", I really don't care. New people generally don't want to play with vets, anyway, nor are they equipped to be zerging quests on Reaper difficulty.

Emphatically /notsigned, as someone who tends to have a toon or three on the TR train at all times. There's no point to applying Vet Status to a TR, and it would kill an already-languishing lowbie game.

i love how this is always used, what about the newbies when in reality they only use
that justification when they want it for themselves.

This game has the most active lowbie areas of any MMO I've ever seen, and you call it "languishing"?

If ANYTHING in this game is currently "languishing", it's the "end game"--even the devs have recognized this, because that's what they're focusing on in the next few updates.

As someone who specifically built a guild to recruit new and returning players with heroic-only characters, most of whom still haven't TR'd even ONCE, I actually get to see a lot of this stuff first-hand.

The point of the lowbie game is not to hunker down in it like some sort of DDO Peter Pan who never wants to grow up. The trouble is that "growing up" is a HUGE hill to climb right now. Knowing that there's a hill-lowering mechanism in later goes a long way toward motivating people to start that climb.

I'd be fine with this, too, but I considered that it's a bit too good to be a favor reward, and as stated, this is EXPENSIVE. I like the idea of people being able to earn it the way they do regular vet status. Too many things are becoming store-only options.

How about a bag for our Daily Dice? I normally stock up on Daily Dice (during my late Heroic and Epic Levels) and get hit Level 3 or 4 just off of those.

Not sure what that has to do with this thread.
