    Default undersun goggles

Please make undersun goggles work like spider cult mask, to go over the worn goggles, in current way they are close to useless with all greensteel goggles around. and since they are only for one area in whole game tehy dont realy have any other use, they could also be a clickie.

I have to disagree. Dark vision was given to the appropriate races as a feat in beta but was taken away for some reason. If and when it returns it should mean something and not be trivialized by something anyone can get.

Just give us the light spell. We can cast it on any object in either hand.

Then people would cry when the light spell overrides deadly weapons buff etc, theres still fvs archon and the L4 summons for light. Put the player racial traits back or leave it alone meh.

Kind of like ToD boots. Darkvision should be added as a spell (Ranger 3, Wiz/Sorc 2), to appropriate races (dwarves and half-orcs) and ED's (shadowdancer, possibly others).

If I have to caarry ToD Boots, you can carry goggles. I could understand a modification were it like the explosive barrels that wont stack in Irestone but one slot isnt gonna hurt ya. I have 5 pack tabs and carry a complete second set of gear plus a few odds and ends for specific quests, 35 weapons, a variety of potions, hirelings and still have a completely blank pack tab. Deal.

You can run around the Underdark just fine without them on.

I do not want the Goggles changed.

but I would welcome some options..... later.

I thought the eberron races were going to have a method of unlocking their vision abilities.

and it seems to me that there should be quest items, spells, abilities, etc. That we could gain that would make fighting in the Underdark easier for us..... eventually.

But first time there, Drow should have an advantage. It should be a foriegn environment we have to learn to cope with.

IMO, part of challenging a high lvl group is to hinder them.
one way to hinder them is to force them to remove some of their uber gear to adapt to a specific challenge.

Plenty of stuff for you to fight on the surface, that you can wear your normal goggles while doing so.

Let's not remove all of the flavor from the game please.

I agree that I think that the undersun goggles are actually just darkvision goggles. I suspect that the appropriate races (half-orcs, dwarves, and drow) will get this effect as a race granted feat once the devs work out how to make it work in all playable areas.

I don't mind the effect being on a pair of goggles that are easy to obtain though. I think something as cool as the undersun affect should be open to everyone. If you don't play one of the races that gets the benefit though, you're going to have to give up an equipment slot to get it, or have a spell cast on you. Playing one of those races will always be the most advantageous because it will cost you no equipment slot and will not be able to be dispelled (such as by a beholder's anti-magic cone).

Eberron is such a high magic monte haul environment, even in book lore. The dock in the harbor floats in mid air ffs. Why havent our characters who battle demons and devils from other planes been able to figure out how to create an item or cast a spell to be able to see in the dark? This is so trivial compared to summoning elder elementals and insta-killing multiple mobs. It should be low level and easy to get. House P is lit up like a christmas tree from low level magic. This should not be such a huge issue that level 20+ epic characters would have a hard time to solve.

I wonder, would these goggles work in Rainbow in the Dark?

No. They only work in areas under the effect of the Underdark special environment.

Woops Chai! There you go applying logic! For shame!

    (/signed on goggle btw...)

(And interestingly enough, I agree with Talon that it does add flavor, but let my flavor have the cosmetic gear functionality so I can still hit stuff with my x-bow. For some reason the difference between +50 to hit and +54 is significant. In other words, why is it any less "flavorful" to be able to retain the functionality of my regular goggles if I still have to visit creepy underground vendor who gives me a mysterious set of goggles for free? Oh and another thing! Who takes free goggles from creepy underground guy and creepy underground dungeon in RL? I would just keep my head down and keep walking).

There is a low-level spell to see in the dark. It is Darkvision:

I suspect that once Darkvision is added to the game that the spell may get added as well.

I don't really have a problem with the way they work now. It provides an additional bit of environmental challenge to the Underdark. It's not just a dungeon like any other, you need to make some gear concessions to the environment if you want to succeed. If they just made the undersun goggles go over existing goggles, they may as well have not introduced them at all.
