    MyDDO has bugs.

Those that use it *well* (even if its just to see why *that party member* died 10 times), know to look at the bottom righthand corner where it shows when character info was last updated.

No one said it was the end-all-be-all.

So do you decline the nub or accept him on the basis he went from 9 to 20 faster than you could look him up

no i was curious as to why the dwarven ranger level 20 died in the first 5 seconds vs harry in part 4 of the shroud, and why when i healed im for 150 hp with my bard it seemed like half his health bar suddenly went up. And because i was a little shocked it was a dwarf not a drow ranger.

    0% Fortification
    < 300 HP

You are not ready for epics.

    Just letting you know.
Having 0% fortification and less than 300 hp is the crux here - not the Cove epic's.

But lets be honest - would you aprove of anything less than 100% fortification and more than 400 hp ?

The thing is that people with sub-standard gear and obvious gaps in their DDO-mechanics 101 course have gotten easy access to real nice epics. And now they feel ready to try epic questing for maybe the first time.

This is neither first nor last time we will experience the NewToGame/NewToQuest/NewToThisTactics pug's.
Some times it works out - some times not.

The sad thing about this situation is that people that would be happy to explain/help also have day's when they just want to do a 'quick' quest. They help out 9 times out of 10 and get blasted for the time they didn't.

If you are new to quest/game, send a tell to the groupleader - that will more often than not result in a good responce and understanding of your toons flaws.

So here's my quick fix/imperfect solution to educating the masses.

Everyone put the same couple of lines into the in-game bio of all their characters:

Fortification is not an option. Get heavy Fortification as soon as you can!
When you have no hitpoints, you're dead. Get >350 hitpoints before you run epics!

On all our characters, hopefully players who do not read the forums will at least read a couple of our bios from time to time.

I understand some people use their bios to roleplay, but a few lines won't hurt too bad yeah? And if you don't, all the better! Just a couple of lines to help save Sarlona!

It's not that they are bad, just unprepared.

They have incomprehensible level splits, extremely low HP with no obvious haggle/magi swaps, etc.

I've rarely before the event screened, but the sudden influx of people who are unable to contribute at the same level as the "regular suspects" in the epic PUG scene.

A few weeks ago you could take whoever applied. Every now and then you might get someone who was a little shaky, but now people with 0% fort and 250 HP think they can wander into things like EDA and contribute.

It will probably take a little time for these people to adjust. Once they do everything will once again be fine.

Until then, however, I'm going to be a little careful about letting people into groups. (100+ tokens don't come quick when half the party can't hit, survive, etc)
Farmed out Welfare Epics does not make one ready for Epic.

Ive run into alot of scooters lately... but this happened last night on non-epic quest.... inferno elite 14-17.
Level 17 toon with 10 levels of rogue and had zero skill points in disable device... and bragged he had a 50AC and 34 intim and wasnt built for rog skills, he willbe rocking those sneak attacks intiming :P

Scooters can play there toons how they want... but you can splash a level of rogue and do all traps in game(except cabal maybe). Rogue Icon = Rogue skills o.O
Englorious Basteurds - There the only ones who can put up with me.

You are not ready for lvl 17+raid/elites.

    Just letting you know.
    corrected for you

not sure how my first time toon running epics for the first time is going to get his epic ______ without being able to run the raid on epic because i am always rejected for using the epic CC gear or is from a certain guild

oh... and the drop in quality of the average new player is due to the big divide... older/experienced player (very few exceptions) prefer to run their own exclusive groups and no longer mingle with the newer players. the few times that they do take a pug seems to be for little more than for gathering material for a post in the forum.
is the last 6 odd months since starting this game i have had the chance to team with somebody from supremacy for one quest (which we failed) and have seen once pug group from QE...

luckly i joined a guild of awesome little warriors and have no short-age of help...

I've managed to do epic VON 6 WITHOUT heavy fort...on a squishy bard with just barely over 300 HP using a pirate hat with seeker +6 and a greater bold trinket...and let me just say, getting critically hit for about 267 points of damage or so was just loltastic.

Honestly this isnt really all that new. When I came up there were several top guilds that really didnt want to take new people. The problem has been exasperated a bit due to the amount of new people that came with ftp all at once. Lots of vets closed ranks at that time.

I think Tobril is frustrated with heading into epics with a full group and watching people in pugger slots die over and over again. Getting ALL the negatives from a full group and FEW of the advantages.

I understand what he is saying. He is not saying any given gear is bad, just that it takes more then gear to be a fully helpful team member in higher end content.

Which is precisely why I dont use myddo, even if it was accurate. Honestly Id rather have someone with 0 fort who listens and trys to learn/work as a team then someone with 100% fort slotted on one of their many epic items who does otherwise. One is a very easy, very quick fix, the other cant be fixed at all.

Been gone for 10 months and nothing has changed lol. This game will never change and neither will the players. Many of us vets left because of this influx of noob players that cant or wont listen. Don't pug, do as Quik says and work with them if you can. Otherwise find a good guild and move on.
