Quite a few are not. There's at least Steel, Silver, Platinum, Adamantine, Crystal, Bone that I know of for named items. Even a random generated q-staff can be non-Wood (rarely).

I don't even try to solo (if I want a single player game, I don't need DDO), but play as part of a group, but a Druid without IOD gear can dominate in R10s with all the CC and heals a party could ask...

Some damage spells have saves, some don't. Even those with saves aren't all-or-nothing, they're save for half. And most nukers can focus almost exclusively on a single (or maybe two) spell schools....

So, there's different aspects.

Think of this: both melee DPS and tanks are fighting in melee range with melee weapons, so you could technically call both "melees", but a DPS build is different...

Why is this Blight Caster only? Growing green things fits better with base Druid than it does with one focused on death and decay!

There's several spells on the Paladin list where an enemy would have to make a saving throw against the Paladin's DC, which is a reason it might theoretically matter.
