U42 Preview 3: Loot

Hello, friends! This is gonna be a long post, so bear with me. Sharn has a lot of items - I mean a lot - a crafting system, new filigree, and some other cool stuff that'll really blow your mind.

Sharn features a return of the Nearly Finished (House Cannith - not to be confused with Cannith Crafting) crafting system to allow customization to certain items. Some of the ingredients used in the previous incarnation of Nearly Finished will be usable here in Sharn, and some of the ingredients found in Sharn will be usable in original Nearly Finished. We'll go into detail about the Crafting system more in a future post.

Sharn Raids will be Tier 4 - a step higher than tier 3. Sharn Items are found at both levels 15 and 29, and Raid items are found at only level 29.

Quick FAQ:

Why no Trinkets? There are no Trinkets in Sharn so future packs can greatly expand with them, similar to how Ravenloft had no helms and future packs focused on them.

How many items per set? All sets listed are 3 piece sets.

What bonus type are the set bonuses? Artifact, therefore not stacking with Slave Lords and most of RL's set bonuses.

I, uh, happen have several thousand old House Cannith Crafting ingredients already. That's not a question, but I get what you're saying, don't worry. If you've got a ton of old House C stuff, you can make some headway into Sharn's crafting, but you won't be able to finish anything without actually getting into Sharn itself.

Generic Weapon Suite:

Just like Ravenloft, Sharn will contain a full suite of weapons across both level brackets (levels 15 and 29). Unlike Ravenloft, these will not be "free" as in free pizza - players will be able to forge them out of Nearly Finished crafting ingredients at a very small proportionate cost in order to avoid overflooding the loot tables. Ideally, these are easily acquired without much effort.

Raid Weapons:

These will have an upgrade path using Nearly Finished ingredients and Threads of Fate that will boost their dice, add an augment slot, and add their last effect. This will play very similarly to how Caught in the Web weapons upgrade, although it will use Threads of Fate as its primary resource rather than Commendations of Heroism. Sharn Raids will drop Threads of Fate as a Tier 4 Raid.

Tier 1 Upgrade will add an additional Augment Slot, as these weapons will start with Red.
Tier 2 Upgrade will add their additional effect (unless you have The Eclipse Itself, and then you'll have your own upgrade path in which you pick a primary element)
Tier 3 Upgrade will add .5W (unless you have The Eclipse Itself, and then you'll have your own upgrade path in which you will pick your secondary element)

Weapons in this block have 5(W) and raid-tier loaded dice.

So for the Guardian of the Gates Set Items, the bonus change seems good.

But the raid helm is still the same garbage.
Command does not stack with the +22 intimidate(both on same item) and Healers bounty is just bad.

If you really want to implement it like this( I would prefer you change command and healers bounty to something else), plz make the raid Helm the quest Helm and the quest Helm the raid Helm. You want people to want to run the raid don't you?

This is not true - Command is an Insight bonus as it appears on the helmet. I will get the notes changed to reflect this, it appears as an Insight bonus in-game.

Rune Arms - I've mentioned this earlier - why again fire? Ravenloft also had two fire rune arms. Make a healer rune arm, DC caster rune arm, weapon damage rune arm...

Melody: Bulwark Your Inspire Greatness grants you and your allies an additional +3 PRR. Make it +3 / +10?

Fulcrum Shift 5 Melee Power is bad. We have ML28 quest gear that gives permanent 8 Melee Power.

Temperance of Belief: +1 Insightful MRR - should be different type

Exceptional Healing Amplification +8/+22 is uninteresting, we can get 45 on ML21 Mysterious Cloak/Bracers. That said, it's on a small shield, those are irrelevant anyway.

The old fashioned deception i.e. small chance of bluffing enemy - will stack with the improved deception on the Celestial Sapphire ring, and allow more use of the various amounts of new style deception on other items.

Ah, that's disappointing. So it won't stack with the insightful intim on the ring then. Why not just call it insightful then to remove the confusion? It would be awesome if you could add linguistics 10% to the raid helm then. No reason to slot a ring for only the 1 second drop in intim cooldown.

Should the L29 version of the Nightshade Shooter have Sovereign Vorpal instead of Vorpal?

Do like some of the changes like repair amp on the ring but Impetus still to me just looks so boring

Fetters is everywhere but still its nice to have.

Damage on hit and crit seems to be the normal compared to past xbows.

I really dislike sov vorpal tho as ive stated previous prieviews, these items have cool names and deserve cool effects for being raid weapons, just compare impetus to the other repeaters and its barely an upgrade if not a downgrade. The non repeater looks to have a similar clicky to the baba bow, others have some of the others LGS effects, nothing else has had sov vorpal thrown on it.
