This is a question for someone who only has the trinket slot available for the sonic lore and the resonance. Is there something better for this slot? Epic Level?

Why do you need sonic lore and resonance on a SWASHBUCKLER? Resonance I can understand--you have a sonic-damage-on-crit ability that's modified by spellpower. But it can't crit, so you don't need sonic lore. Are you actually wasting sp on sonic spells? Why--if you're running in a good swash build you don't have feats leftover for maximize/empower/heighten and all that jazz. So even with a 150 sonic spellpower item, they're hardly going to do any damage, and the epic blasting chime only gets up to 90. Might as well get a weapon with a red slot and throw a 138 resonance gem in there.

I certainly have the red slot but I only found about this item today and wondered about the crit%. So no issue thanks

Define "good" swashbuckler build that has no room for maximize and empower (heighten I find to be pretty much useless)? I tend to go maximize and quicken as a start, empower is a decent bonus for over all love. My melee bard had no issues fitting those in, previous build and the updated swashbuckler version that I am endlessly testing and tweaking.

The Sonic SLAs are a nice bonus as Reverberate helps with red/purple named DPS. Soundburst (twisted from EA) not only does a decent stun (hello CDG opportunities) but with a higher crit chance and sonic power the damage isn't laughable. Honestly my Primal Scream hits (EE stormhorns mobs) for 2.5k on a crit and with lore I crit a lot.

So, I'm sorry but sonic lore is completely viable and should be considered as part of the "tool kit"

Is the trinket best in slot...no, but it will get you a bonus until about level 23ish when you start upgrading your items. As for better trinkets..random loot gen can have some powerful opportunities...the Music Box is customizable for your needs, Litany is a good option if you have odd stats, Planar trinkets help but only if you are using a CitW weapon or if you need like a +3 insightful stat somewhere.

There are quite a few builds on the recent bard forums. I've run the PDK squashbuckler, the paragon and the count of monte cristo (albeit with an unoptimized horc). All were pretty good. I TR'd from the monte cristo into the paragon and both were very fun. I've added 2, 3 and a 4 tome to it - but I don't think any are required.

The sonic dot is good to keep up in longer fights.

Warpriests keep Divine Punishment up, so I don't see why a Swashbuckler shouldn't keep Reverberate up, even though it involves some adventuring into the Spellsinger tree (which you should be doing anyways)
