Not sure if we're talking about the same essences but I'd expect a large scale to go for 1000-1500 essences (I tend to offer them for 1250 with good results). Large stone should be half that and shrapnel somewhat less.

Is my math just that far off or do essences just vary in price that much?
On the AH essences are going for 700pp+ each
700x280= 196000pp
sure I am a little low but 1k+ per scale just seems like a lot.
Am i missing something?

AH isn't a good indication of bulk essence value. Most of the prices on the AH are targeted at those who are just short a few essences and need them to finish an item.

Selling in bulk usually happens in trade channels or on the forums; 200 to 350pp/each is usual depending on demand/supply (I've noticed demand gradually diminishing over time and it's getting easier and easier to get 200pp deals which is all I've ever paid - something like 20,000 greater essences purchased at this price - though it gets blurry when counter valuing LDS/FRDS; which I do at 250k/500k).

But, if that's what your offering then good luck :)

I think the norm is now 200/essence. and 200-250k per lds.
