I have three shield pieces (1, 5 and 6) and I am wondering if it's worth the effort to get the other missing 5.
For how much plat/scales/whatever would I be able to sell those (roughly), and/or how much would I need to pay to get 2, 3, 4, 7 and 8?

Its hard to give a price check.
On the one hand, the available shields are outclassed in their relevant aspects by shields that are much easier to aquire.
On the other hand, rarely anyone farms the shield chests anymore. Inferno probably on the way through (but people usually stop once their sigil is complete), Fleshmaker if the group has some extra minutes, Vol if someone with open lock is available (wizard, rogue levels, sorc with knock) and Ghosts of Perdition close to never.
Based on this assessment of the situation, I would put:
1,2 (Vol) and (5,6) as the cheapest ones, since many groups will take the chests along
7,8 (inferno) in the middle, since nearly all groups take the chest, but it isnt run often
3,4 (ghosts) at the top, since its a PITA to get to the chest.
For an exact price? They are old outclassed items that are hard to aquire. First property suggests being cheap, second one suggests expensive.
My conclusion: They are collector items. There is no "real" market value.

I agree that it's more of a collector item than something u can put to real use.
I'm always seeking parts 3-8 cause 1-2 are easy to farm (solo if u can pass the lock) and don't require quest completion in order to acquire them. Agree that Ghosts can be a pain but with at least 2 casters covering all the spawning runes there shouldn't be any problem.
My prices on the rest depend on whichever I got the least.
Curently im missing part(s) 3, 4 and 7, I will pay as much as 80k for each of them. Or trade something like 1 Black Scale (or something of similar value, i got an xtra fragment 5).
