Those of you who know me know I'm not a whiner or a complainer. This is just a description of an event that the pugging public should know about.

Ran hound yesterday in an able-bodied pug. We had all 3 dogs charmed about as quickly as can be managed. I'm on my bard buffing the dogs with songs and someone throws 3 break enchantments on the the pups. We lose 2 dogs.

We recover, single dog is buffed, we're stable. Someone casts break enchantment again. Dog breaks. Wipe ensues. Beholders were not up until 3/4 of the party was dead and long after the last dog's charm was deliberately broken.

I don't know who did it. I wish I did, because I would take the infraction points to post their name here. I'm not trying to fuel the paranoia here, but the fact is we have some bad apples. Lets weed them the **** off our server.

That is an honest, but noobish mistake, and certainly understandable. Our instance was simple sabotage. So when you coming back worm?

After the frist Break Enchantment, I would have just stopped the raid, told everyone to stop right where they were and looked to see who was in the middle... ideally only a couple of people would have been there. Too late to think about that now, especially as you were prolly trying to get the raid back under control and didn't want to waste the time.

Don't recall, but would Break Enchantment show up in the combat log? And even if it did, if it's only cast on the dogs, would it register in the log?

*** is going on with so many people doing this ***** lately... ya, that's rhetorical.

Maybe it would have helped if you had some Thieves Tools.

It should be simple detective skills to weed out who it is not - they would have to be a high level caster. Not sure if Divines get BE. I dont think casting froma scroll would be enough to break the charm so you can probably rule out any UMD bards/rogues. Melee? Out. I dont belive their are any items which would produce a break strong enough sin....

NVM Break Enchantment is not dispel magic. Could be anyone.

I tried to look at it but I was so busy trying to save the last dog. By the time I could look at it it was long gone.

Evil. Funny side note, I thought they made Break Enchantment not affect positive buffs (to prevent griefing). So I was surprised the other day when I suddenly lost a full row of buffs at the very top of the subterraine. Turned out a friend hit the wrong hotbar key. lol.

You can see the effect-the stacked rings moving over the shape, and hear the distinct noise of a break enchantment. That's what it was, there is no doubt about it.

I remember the hound run a while back....

It was almost like slow motion...

I hear...

"I wonder if Break enchantment will dispell the bees off the dogs"

it didnt.....

I run a Lot of hounds.. I'll keep an eye out... Luckily, my raids generally fill with folks I know.

This just sucks for the good players that are not guilded. This behavior is making it harder and harder to find new players since so many cannot be trusted.

Seelowe

this is exactly the type of moronic behaviour that makes it harder for unguilded players to find decent groups with ppl that can advance their knowledge of the game mechanics or simply the tricks of said quest/raid.

since nothing can be done about it now, simply think of them sliding down a razorblade slide with their tongue, followed by landing in a pool of 99% alcohol. did that help? no?

oh well, I blame your bio lysol

The person that charmed the dogs should be able to see who dispelled the dogs in his combat log. But not sure about that. Other than that:

break enchantment is given to casters and clerics. no clue on bards, as i am to impatient to build one. but sadly that doesn't limit the possibilities either those scrolls are still in the game.

depending on who was actually star... and if it was lysol... who can be cool or a total .... well you know (but so can we all). sounds like a revenge run or something, purposely joining to screw things over. which is just wrong to do that to the other ten people in party.

I remember, not long after the Hound came out, where I accidentally hit Control-R instead of Control-E, and cast Break Enchantment on the dog instead of Heal.

(Yes, clerics get BE)

I have since removed BE from my control-keys, so I never accidentally hit it.

This rumor is lingering around on Ghallanda as well, I've got a wizard permanently on my squelch list because of it.

The fact that you cant post someone's name when they do this kind of stuff without being scolded is wack. This is effectively a griefer protection program in its own right. Do any of the CS staff do anything about it when players submit in game complaints of this nature?

In my opinion, the combat log needs to say who is casting what spell. A good portion of griefing that happens is spamming a certain effect, usually a dispell. Sometimes its starting an encounter before everyone is ready.

<Name> casts break enchantment

<Name> has entered the portal etc.

We would sure know who the repeat offenders are in a hurry.

Had a guy in hound drop greater teleport in the hound as soon as the named chest was opened.

I took my hands off the keyboard and waited as Ive seen this a few times before. One guy had a breastplate in the chest and ended up in gianthold without it. This was friday night and I should have wrote the name down because Ive since forgotten it.......might remember if I see it again tho.

I wonder if it was accidental, like a cleric having their BE spell located near their heal/cure spells. Ive accidently cast a few spells that way before, although doing it three times makes that a little unlikely.

I don't know, sounds pretty feasible to me. You're a cleric. You're hitting the button to heal. Health bar doesn't move. So you hit it again, and again. Is this guy cursed or something? Oh, #&$@*! Wrong button...

My guess is that Weyun is himself the culprit and that he's so into griefing that he is now griefing himself. Were you on your new toon "Griefing"? If it wasn't you, it's pretty damned funny that a guy with a toon named "Griefing" comes on the boards to complain about getting griefed.

certain spells like BE should be moved to a separate bar/more unique hotkey specifically to avoid this from happening.

A single mess up is feasible, multiple times (and directly after a recovery from the last 'mistake') is definitely griefing.
