I dont remember it being this way.
But me and a crew of 4 people went into short man the quest, we successfully controlled the battle three times, until Desaga ran down the hall way and re spawned at full health, not once, but 3 times.
Turbine, this is extremely annoying, please fix this bug, i do not care if you are concerned about players cornering him in the hall way or not, the point of the game is to have fun, not to be frustrated by leash re spawning bosses.
Please fix this in your next update, it is bad enough that he literally climbs straight up the walls!!

I agree leashing in this fight is annoying and doesn't really serve to stop exploits it anyways as i'm pretty sure he's limited to being stuck in that area either way.
But fyi there's a commonly used tactic that works well to avoid that alltogether: Block him in.
Need 2 people to run directly up to him.. DO NOT FLANK, but fight right infront of him, he will always jump backwards - standard kobold ai. After 1 jump back against the wall, block him in and dps him down. He will never leash if you get him stuck there.

Yea we did that, and he, as usual hopped straight backwards and then climbed straight up the wall like spider man, we could not even hit him anymore at one point, then after waiting for him to come back down the meteor swarm popped free of his ooze puppet and then promptly killed the cleric and sent our WF wizard running for his life, i ran back to raise the cleric, and he hopped back down and ran up to my back because i had agro i guess, and after the cleric was back up i turned, he hopped around me right at the breach and recalled, i was so ****ed that it happed again that we just d-doored out....LAME!!!
Its not like we could not have finished but it was late and we were annoyed.
**** like this is just bad for turbine, i just don't want them annoying paying vets to death, cuz folks with less constitution will quit over things like this and find a new MMO to play, i have seen folks quit over less.

If you understand the AI, you have 100% control on where he goes.
So if the usual behaviour your seeing is him going to a bad spot.. Your standing in a the wrong place.
You need to stand directly facing where you want him to go. In the right place he will go back into his alcove, where he cannot jump up or back, as there is a low ceiling.
Yes 1 wrong step and he will end up in a unhittable place which is frusterating and can end the fight if you cant handle the swarms.. But with practice you can reliable get him in the right spot everytime.
Re: Meteor swarm.. An alternative way of dealing with him instead of ooze puppet, or in addtion to, is to cast a symbol of persuasion in such a spot that all the mephits get charm down below.. The meteor swarm spawns down there too and will agro and slowly kill the mephits, giving you allot of time to deal with the kobold.

So i guess you have not watched him climb straight up his little fire shield wall in his alcove have you?
He did it to us.
And we are not newbs...
I know exactly how to control this fight, i know all about the symbol of persuasion tactic too, i appreciate your willingness to help us un-gimp ourselves, but that is not why i posted here.
The point of the thread is to have turbine fix their terrible programming.
So per my initial request...
Turbine, please remove the rediculously small leash, not every one is uber elite as Axer who knows all, or better yet wants to spend time dealing with this annoying issue.

Sure have.. Whenever I take pug melee they stand in the wrong spot and that can happen.
If i take melee i know are familiar with it, never had an issue.
I mean the climibing thing is an issue since early beta in with the harbour kobolds.. The devs are aware of it and either don't care or dont have any easy way to fix it.
The leashing issue should be corrected.

Uhh, we were not standing in the wrong spot(s), we are incredibly familiar with the quest, i estimate at least 300 completions on all of my alts, and my cohorts equally.
So even when you stand in the right "spot", he still climbs the walls.
And judging by the release notes today, it does not look like turbine took the five minutes it would take to remove his leash.
I am renewing my call to have turbine, remove the leash on the end fight boss in Enter the Kobold.
I could care less about whether you think we are standing in the right spot or not Axer, it is not relative to what i am requesting here.
I think Turbine owes this to the game to clean up programming like this.
See if i wanted to run on my top notch melee's all the time that can kill him in under 15 seconds then this would not matter, but i and so do a lot of people, play more difficult, lower level, non maxed out characters that are working their way up, and this gets annoying when you are fighting him with non GS/raid/epic weapons on low dps, short manned groups. given time he will escape 100% of the time and you will be lucky if he does not recall.
We were so annoyed and not even close to wipe status that we just left. Tell me who wants to waste their time with stuff like this?

You can make please and demands all you want. They'll fall on dev deff ears. Why? priority.
The ****ing mouseover can't attack bug has been in sense mod 3 and that still isn't fixed. Actually with the latest Update (no clue about today's patch) it is worse than ever.
Have you seen what your dice color is in the UI? I know I never have.
Do you want to know how you get these things fixed? You get Fernando or Kate ticked off at the issue, THEN and only then will it get fixed.

Well i completely understand what you are saying, i agree with all of your concerns as well.
But i will try.
I will make some effort until i get burned out. However minimal.

I agree the AI with Kobolds is one of the most frustrating things, aside from Air Elementals for Melee classes. I think it was just very poor design of the room that makes this such a pain in the neck.
One time he got loose on us and was perched like he was on the wall but floating in midair above us across the lava. The only way to get him to come down was to run back into the short tunnel at the entrance, which caused him to reset. His trash didn't reset thought.. they will follow you all the way out of room and if you had someone turn the level, outside of the tunnel to the rest/res shrine.
If it was just that it wouldn't be that tough, but there is so much fire damage being thrown around in there, that if you have to deal the stupid Kobold Wall Climbing makes it horrible.

This whole quest is borked. The living firestorm hits for 300 damage, The frenzied fire elementals hit for 80+ damage AoE after 30 is knocked off from resists. And this is all on normal. Evasion is practically necessary to survive the huge mess that goes on.
Seriously... This may be a high level quest, but it's not hard or elite and there's no high level defenses against this kind of damage. Too much stuff congregates in the boss room and it all hits like a ton of bricks (unless you have the magical special ability that costs 2 levels of Rogue).

Did you have any problems with Dungeon Alert in there ? Anyways I agree the leashing + kobold ai is frustrating!

No, no problems with DA at all.
Please remove the lease on the Kobold!!!

... and I have NO experience with this quest, but....
Have missile weapons become so passe' that you will not pull one out to hit the bugged, floating, wall-walking kobold?
Because what I read is he was out of melee range so there was nothing you could do...
BTW I think it's pretty cool the kobolds can wall-walk and PCs can not. It helps my immersion.

First time I completed this quest, the group wanted me to stay back and man a lever so they had a fall back position. death, after death, after death, I finally realised that everything except the leashing boss was back near our fall back point, and not near the boss....plus all the mobs were agroed on someone else, other than me.
So I went in and ranged him......and could've soloed killed him eventually, but a couple other party members realised they did not have agro at that time and rushed in to help finish him off.
He jumpes around so much, and I have yet to see a group coordinated enough to trap him. He jumps into lava too.
IMO ranging him is exactly the way to go.
Especially since he is content to keep casting spells on me, and I have either the saves, immunities, or self healing to shoot at him all day if needed.
Only real problem is his minions. But again, standing still and being hit by his minions isn't smart either.
Best tactics are when someone can distract his minions for the duration of the battle.
And if the group cannot corral him, then range him....and let him jump around all he wants.
