Hi guys,
Yesterday we decided to try out Devils assault. Since it is a lvl 6 we figured it wouldnt be that much of an issue. After a few tries without a cleric and wiping and wave 4, we got a cleric and things went a lot smoother till we hit the 5th wave....party wipe again. We had two tanks, three dps and the cleric, no spellcaster. However, after the 3rd party wipe (lvls6-8) we gave up on it. This dungeon scaling seemed a little of. I know from previous questing with 3 of the 5 members that each of em are decent players and dont just "drop dead".

Did anyone else experience that? I have to say that neither one of us knew the dungeon so we did not know that wave 5 is mainly acid damage (so we did not have resists on us). But honestly looking at all the other dungeons that doesnt kill you usually (at least not ALL of the party members).

Just wanted to check if that was a known issue or not.

Thanks

The dungeon scaling isn't off, it's just that hard.

I recently did Devil's Assault on normal by myself when I was level 12 (monk). I'm level 15 now and was thinking of trying it on hard.

It's not an easy fight, one thing you might want to do before going in is to get your House J favor and get your 30 minute buffs to save your cleric(s) some SP. Also make sure you've got someone with wall of fire and haste, that will help a lot.

The quest is exceptionally difficult. So much so, I imagine, that no amount of dengeon scaling would be able to help. It's worth very little XP for the challenge it presents, and has pretty crappy loot. The only reasons to bother trying are either for a real challenge or masochism.

This is tough "at level." A caster with crowd control ability helps a lot. Having fogs helps. Strategy makes a big difference. Having a the high AC tanks take the enemy melees helps on resources. DPS should go after the casters right away. Evasion builds take on any elementals (these spawn on elite--not sure about the lower levels).

Historically, this wasn't worth running (or only running once)--but it actually gives decent XP now--not for the quest itself but for defeating each wave. I think it is about 15K on elite-which isn't terrible.

devil assault is actually pretty ok exp now that the first 4 waves are worth significant amounts .. but as the game warns you, its an extrme challenge dungeon and they aren't joking

doing devil assault is just for bragging rights

Well at least I am not the only one thinking it is hard :). I thought one has to do devils assault to get some ingredients for the crafting stuff? Maybe I misread that.

I do have to admit, it bothered me not to be able to finish the quest ( I know the ego ;)) so I might actually trying get a decent cc caster and try it again with the house j buffs :D.

devil assault has nothing to do with any crafting or ingredients

there are lots of devils in that content, but its an entirely separate area, and much higher level

You are probably thinking of the adventure pack named "Devil Invasion", which covers 3 raids and a ton of other quests in two modules (modules 6 and 7) and contains 75% of all the content between levels 16 and 18.

I found it very good exp to solo back when my FvS was lvl 8 or so. each wave is excellent exp

The explorer area associated with the vale is level 12, and it used to be normal to go out there at that level, but now its more the ideal leveling area for 15-17ish characters .. all 3 raids are big aprts of the endgame, though, and the shroud being the crafting raid, being able to start running it as soon as possible is good. As a new player, I would probably seek vale quest groups out as early as 13-14 so that you can get flagged for the shroud, even if running them (and the raid) provides no exp for your first flagging runs and your raid runs .. beginnning your income of larges is important.
