Will Spell Absorption help vs. Shadowfiends?

Noticed in PvP that the scarab of protection effect on the Mantle of the Worldshaper absorbs the damage caused from hitting a target with fire shield up. Would it also absorb damage from the Shadowfiends in Tower of Despair?

Has anyone tested this?

It wouldn't be a solution, per se, but it could make kiting a little easier as a sort of temporary safety net. Thoughts?

Can try with a Scarab of Protection as well (normally around 100k to 200k gold on the AH).

I just can't get used to describing values in plat--I don't say that this bike cost me ten 10-dollar bills! :rolleyes:
