OK. It took me few days to get it but here it is. Looks like we have enough to at least put a party together. First two kids runs will be May 24th and June 7th at 1pm EST. This gives the East and West coast an opportunity to join in. We will play for approx 1.5 hours but those interested in continuing can feel free to do so. After we see how the first two weeks go we can discuss adding more dates. The rules are simple;

1) Contact me via PM or in-game, Ogarth or Nukinum, to have your child's toon added to the guild. Guild name will be shared only with those participating. Please do not share the name of the guild with others.

2) A parent should be present to monitor your childs progression through the game and help out when/if needed.

3) Your child's toon should be at least level 2 for Saturday but not higher than 4. This will give all the kids a chance to participate and earn XP to grow their toons together.

4) Please help your child, if necessary, to equip their toon with items/weapons found.

5) Please explain to your child that this is a team effort and we want to work together as a team to complete the quest. It will not be fun for 7-8 year olds if the more experienced kids are running through completing the quest on their own. If someone asks for the party to wait for them the whole party should oblige.

6) Under no circumstances should your child discuss real life issues such as name/address/phone/school name/email addresses etc etc while playing. This is a great opportunity for us to teach our kids that the internet can be a very fun place but also to learn the importance of anonimity (sp?).

7) Please log on at 1pm EST. We will start the first quest at 1:15pm EST.

My son has chosen a Dwarf Barbarian so he can solo quests on his own. Please allow your child to create whatever they like. They can always re-roll if this whole idea takes off and the guild needs well rounded parties. But for now it is only a test and your child should have fun playing what they want. Maybe discuss the different toon types with them and match one up to their personality. I am looking forward to this. I hope you are too.

Feel free to share this information will others you know that may have children. They can contact me for information. If I am missing anything please add comments. I will try to contact those that showed interest personally but if you don't hear from me look me up.

Interested parties should contact me via PM or in game as Ogarth or Nukinum to give me the name of your child's toon. I will then look for them to log on Saturday and invite them to the guild. If you don't have your childs toon ready send me a PM that you are interested and I will give you my son's toon name and you can look it up on Saturday when you log on.

Edit: I am on most week nights after 10pm EST for an hour or so. My dedicated DDO night is Thursdays so I am usually on from 7-11 pm. Also, most weekend evenings, late. As mentioned my two main toons are listed above. I also have a couple lesser played toons you can look for just in case. See signature for details.

Thanks for taking the time and initiative to set this up. I know my 9 year old is excited to participate and we'll see you on Saturday!

My son is looking forward to it, he should be on.
I will have him look you up.

Should he send your Char a tell to sign on?

just popped in to say i think this is a great idea... my son is only 2 and thusly will not be participating, but i think this will be a great opportunity for some of the younger players and potential players to kind of learn the d20 system, be able to play KNOWING that there won't be swear words blaring out of the speakers every 10 seconds, and learn the importance of teamwork (i know, i sound like any given episode of the wonderpets [parents of toddlers you know what i'm talking about lol])

big props to the OP for this idea. maybe people could send lowbie vendor trash to be distro'd among the kiddie guild?

We are commited to creating a kids guild on Khyber. It will be at least this weekend before we can get anything started. I know my son has been dying for something like this so he could play too. I will see if he can make it Saturday for you. I don't want to be competing with what you're doing (I think there are more than enough kids on Khyber to support something like this). I'll send you a PM with details.

Great idea! I don't think we'll be gaming this weekend (weather is supposed to be nice) but I'll keep an eye out and try to join up in the future. I know my son would really enjoy this.

ps Out of curiousity ... What are the odds that this becomes a WF guild by default? :D

My child has several toons on Khyber and I do not want her on any other server as my toons are only on Khyber and this enables me to gam with her. Still, keep me informed on Khyber. Also, a list of toons would be appreciated

Scampb's event off very well today, I had a lot of fun with my son playing. He can't wait to get on and play again.

To further what we are doing on Khyber, I spoke with the other person in DWG helping me run it. We are going to start on Thursday May 29th at 5pm EDT. Hopefully, we can get enough of a core group going that they will be able to group inside the guild only. I see this as running everyday, in the afternoons. School is, or is almost, out, and using the afternoon (or just after school) time will not cut into adult playing and there are more likely for kids to be on then. PM for more details or questions.

Well, day one went very well. 5 kids showed up, we missed one. One had to leave early for a family event and one joined in progress. Fun was had by all and all parents were present too. My son really enjoyed the group play, his first time. Thanks to all that participated. The next 'scheduled' event is for June 7th at 1pm EST again. If you want to join in please see the first 2 OP's for details.

Also, my son plays randomly (when homework is done, weather is not nice etc.) for an hour or so here and there. Feel free to check for on-line guildies outside of scheduled dates. I hope this has moderate success as the kids had a blast. If anyone wants to add scheduled dates please feel free to add them here.

My son has been doing the same. He is very excited about having a group to play with. I will be starting a group on Khyber, as well. We will be meeting on Thursday 5/29/08 at 5pm EDT.

Sorry I/We missed it. My son is active in Soccer and Baseball right now, and we didn't get home till almost 2:30. But, I would love to get his Character into the guild for the off chance that he is logged in the same time as one of the others.

Sorry we missed you as well - we were both on from noon to 2, but I never saw Ogarth or Nukinum on, or I would have gotten him connected. Sounds like I must have misunderstood something.

Next time :)

Sorry we missed ya too JayDubya. I logged on as my sons toon around noon or so to keep an eye for the kids to log on. I think I now have your child's toon listed in my sons friend list. Hopefully we will see you on June 7 and we can get him/her in the guild.

My son IronGoliath had a good time.

would you prefer that the guild character be played only with the guild?
My son is a little older and is on a little more,
I have been trying to reign him in a bit with his guild char, so that he does
not runn away on his "Guildies"...

My son is usually on between 3-5 or 6pm EST
after homework is done...
so if The guildies want to jump on I am sure he would welcome them.

We are planning a family event for the weekend of the 7th.
so I don't think we will make it that weekend...
But I AM thinking of smuggling two laptops in to the Luggage....:D

However, I am fairly sure he will be on this weekend, so again,
if the guildies want to Group, they can look up the Following Characters.

Bartamaeus: Wiz-5 ( caution! Fireball happy Mage!) :D

Tapion: Ranger-7

Irongoliath: Ranger-4 (In the guild.)

Or Tugaar: Barb- 1 currently in (Dwarves of Thunder Rift)

Also: Feel free to look up Either

Bekki:
Peniafrancia:
Loderick:
Maiarlee:
Deryck:
Sildehwen:
Or Tuckkerby:
These are my characters, if I am on and he is not (which is unlikley) :D

I will let him know his Guildies are on and I am sure he will log on.
He enjoyed running with the group for the time he was on.

I think he was the with the family event.

This is an awesome idea, and
Grats! to Scampb for thread of the week! :D

Probably a good idea to monitor the progress of the guilded toons, for exactly the reasons you mentioned. However, if your child wants to grow his toon he can always roll a new one for the guild runs.

Just a reminder that round two of the kids guild is this Saturday at 1pm EST. If your child is not yet in the guild but wants to be added look me up in game (Ogarth or Nukinum) and give me your child's toon name. I will watch for them on Saturday to log on. Look forward to seeing everyone there.

Cool!

we may not make it this weekend.

Looks like we are going to the Reading WWII Military vehiicle and Air Show.

But could you please Re-Add IronGoliath
to the guild when you catch him on?

He decided he wanted his Warforged to be a Barb instead of a Ranger.

Our son is almost 4 and so not yet ready to play on his own but he loves to watch my husband and I play. Kudos to you for putting this together in a year or so we will definitely add him.

When is the next event?

June 7 was the last scheduled event but no other kids showed up. It was disappointing for my son so I told him when he logs on just to check his guild list to see if others were on. If so, I would stick around for him to group up.

As mentioned earlier, if you want to post a scheduled date here feel free. I check threads daily and if my son can make it he will be there for sure.

With summer, my son will be on most every day,
he is usually on with my oldest son. (over 18) so he is supervised.

I will send you a PM Ogarth with his Char.
names so your son can add them to his friends list.

That way he can see them, and Add them to the guild if need be.

He may have a Scouting event this weekend, but I will keep you posted.

My son usually doesn't get to play until later in the evening after chores and reading are done, about 6:30-7 est. And it seems that the guild is usually running around noon time. He does love to play and still talks about the one time he was able to group with you and your son Scampb.

Yes, I know timing is tough. Hopefully with Summer coming he will have more of an opportunity to log on during the day for an hour or so or even in the late afternoons/early evenings as there will be no homework, only reading. The wife can supervise during the day.

I hope they do get the chance to play some more because he really had a blast. Kind of boring soloing all the time.

I can let Irongoliath know so we can get him on around that time.

We are usually eating around that time.

But I can get him on between 7:00 pm and 8:00 pm est
so that he will have someone to run with.

If that is okay.

Three of the kids in the guild hooked up Saturday aft for a bit. Worked out good. Please remember that your children can still be added to the guild. Just contact me via PM or in game. New toon is Agorth, so best bet is to reach in game as Agorth or Ogarth currently and possibly Nukinum on occasion.

There is a new kids only guild on thelanis. It's rather obvious who they are by their guild name.

Age is anywhere from 6-12 I would think. There are no set times with Summer upon us because everyone is so busy with trips, day camps etc. However, look me up in game (new toon to look for is Noznlok as well) and we will get your childs toon added to the guild. When my son logs on he checks to see if anyone else is on to play with.

There is a new guild for kids out there as well. I might look into getting the two guilds together if I can figure out who to contact.

Anyway, look me up on one of my aliases.

One guy had a great idea from my guild, as his kids do just this... let them play on Risia. They can do whatever they want and make characters, play your main as it will have no impact on your live character one bit.
