View Full Version : Should I stay or Should I go now?

I have been busy with Real Life (over a month since my last log in), and even when I have a moment of free time, I am not logging into DDO. I was pushing on and playing prior to the nerfs to Mod 5, but as many people were, I was utterly demoralized when the Abbott was made so impossibly difficult. I thought maybe taking a break would be good and allow time for fixes to bring it into reasonable play range, but a combination of friends and other things lead me to press on.

With the release of Mod 6, I had a renewed energy, but was once again I was demoralized by in game politics. I hate to admit that I have lost most of my interest in the game because of silly things like that. However, in all honesty, the only real desire I have to play is the friends I made in DDO.

To those of you I have offended, neglected, or otherwise distressed over the time I have played or spread my thoughts across these forums, I am sorry.

I guess this brings me to the real question. Do I have any friends left or have you all gone?

That said…would you rather have my stuff, or do you want me to play?

I changed my mind and canceled my account. I haven't played in over two months anyway, so what is the point.

Definitely play.
...just send me the stuff in your bank!
:D:p

Play for your reasons, no one else's man...and leave the politics for those who have chosen not to, or cannot, achieve.

I've considered you a friend over the years, a good guy to run with. I can't be the only one either. Your account will be here so don't give your loot away is my suggestion.

And you got to follow your heart man, do what it is that makes you happy. If it's spreading love to your RL friends & family then DDO takes a back seat to that. Frankly I've been a little disenfranchised myself by some Manic WOWers that run past their friends to be first, best and/or the most uber. I think a lot is missed by that approach. Smell the roses, shake some hands, eat some butterflies or sponsor some newbie runs for a richer and more satisfying experience.

Good luck either way Prins

Good song.

Stick around! Meet new people. Try and have fun, and don't take it too serious.

I've never had a problem with you, Prins. You still have friends and people who are happy to group with you. And there's a ton of new and recently renewed people who are uninterested in the foibles of the past.

I say give it another try.

First off, keep your stuff...unless you have some w/p weapons. I'd really like to try those out! :)

The game itself is fun, but the people really make it the best. If you have fun running with certain people, make it a point to run with them. Roll up some new builds and PUG. I still meet decent folks when I bring a new alt up through the ranks. New people, new friends, bring life back into the game for me. Unless you are really serious, try grouping with some Waffles. We like to have fun!

If all else fails and it's just not fun anymore, walk away for another period of time. Come back after the next release and see if it's any better.

Take care!

Don't let other people bring your enjoyment of this game down.... there are lots of guilds, lots of new friends to make if you still like the game.... now for me I still play casue I think the combat system here is so far above anything else and the I keep playing casue of the people I call friends in game....I have a full freinds list of poeple that left the game and I still find new and great peole to run with everyday. ....don't let any guild get you down ...not worth it and you like the game and enjoyed the game before you ran w/ them so why shoudl now be any different... hope that helps

Make new friends! Join a guild!

From what I remember, you've been a consistent pugger. Pug world can get lonely. It really feels better to share and group with those who you consistently play with than some pugs who you may see only seldomly. If you get established in a guild you enjoy, you shouldn't ever have to ask if you have any friends left.

Come back to play and see if you have fun. If you need love'n, Indago has a few girls, at least 1 gay guy, and then there's always Drith... we're recruiting! (hmmm, I think that statement will more likely make people flee in terror). You'll get no love from zhool though (if unlove is what you're after). He'll dispel your buffs and grease you if you try to stealth hump or bubble head him. :(

Don't listen to him Rayzor. We all love you and I'm sure Ren will give you some lovin on his California blondie Jellybean.

Stick around Prins, you never know what tomorrow will bring... well it's DDO's anniversary and they posted the release notes, but after that you don't know...

Hi I don't know you at all, but just wanted to chime in with my two cents. I think I have felt what you are feeling, and when I do... since I know at my core I love the game, I hop servers. Sometimes there is too much drama going on, or you feel you are doing the same old grind, and it's time to find a new crew to run with. I had that relatively recently on one server, yes I have many friends whom I love running with (and still love to run with), but there were a few that just caused too much drama and what not for me to fully enjoy the game. So I hopped to Thelanis and started my first toons here, and have had to work to find a good crew to run with but I have and am loving it here.

Sometimes it is just time to take a breather and go back to other hobbies not online, or maybe in another game. Or sometimes it's just a change of scenery. So you have a sour taste in your mouth? Swish some Vanilla Listerine and spit it out and move on :P

Me guild...hmmm that never seems to work. I am too much of an independent, and I like to do my own thing. I don't think that makes me a bad person, and I compromise, I just remember helping people do things all the time and never getting to do what I wanted in guilds. Ask anyone and everyone who has ever tried to guild with me. You my friend Vhlad should know that of all the people I ever played with. How many times you and I disagree? I still like you though, but **** not GAY LOL!

Also, Hey what is with the signature thing? 4 lines...now that is gay!

Its been my opinion that if you have to ask, then you should go. Its pretty obvious your not having fun. Give away your stuff at your own discression though. Ya never know whenthe bug might hit ya to WANT to come back.

Playing a GAME needs to be a Decision you make for YOU. For YOUR enjoyment.

Best of luck in your decision.

Agreed. You at least need a break if you have to even ask the question. Don't give away squat though.

hey hey,

If you want hot, sweaty, hairy, man love, don't look at me, but who am I to judge?

hmmm... I don't think legions has any female players. And with scars back, perhaps that's the best place to find hot sweaty hairy man love? You haven't had real love'n until you've been with a Canadian, that's what they say!

Stay!

I don't even know you at all, but I think you should stay. Others say you're not even in a guild and yet you have all these Level 14 characters -- that's admirable.

Me, I'm brand spanking new to the game, and just last night I got my Rogue to level 4 and then had to stand on the docks in the Harbor, type in the dance emote, and watch my toon do his victory hippie dance. (he dances like a hippie, I don't know why) So stay and help out some Newbie's, maybe. I know I could use some pointers.

My toon's name is Nalinor Shadowson. I play on Thelanis. And I hope you stay with us. Maybe some of us Newbie's will rekindle your interest in things? You never know....

Simple whatever you do dont give ur stufff away no one knows what this game will be like in a year might get awesome (i mean there might be one and only one quest that gives ingredients for a red item and 5 prereqs).

People have different opinions perceptions so its hard to get along with everyone man thats life just like at work ,but in the game all u need is 5 people to get along to quest man im sure u can find that .

For raiding though .... there might be a problem cause u gotta find 11 LOL... and dude my answer to that is look at the lfms most fills slower than urs so on the bright side man i think u have more friends than u think and, can we really have enemies in the game i mean come on its a game people u dont wanna play with or talk too but not enemies its a friggin game .I dont know anyone that gets along with everybody ,so no biggie.

Anyway dude ill play with you any day of the week, i cant stand running someone to chains of flames anymore wish they would put torch all the way there too for noobs but heh, just holler bro you are a fun guys and a great player if only u werent a **** drow (nothing personnal bro its just the smell ).

So anyway hope to see ya bro and group with ya soon and welcome back .

I'd say come back after your break, and just try to stay away from the drama/politics - just focus on fun.

That definitely helped me when I took a 2 month break about a year back.

LOL...

Actually we have at least 3 female members in Legion... not sure if there is more but hey... I never really concerned myself with who's what in gaming... Legion is only concerned about the skill of the player... not much more than that.

..and NO!!! Scar's is not goin on a date with you:) Tryin to pimp me off.. BAD BAD Vlad :D

Alright, so Legions isn't the man-fest I thought it was. Where else can people go for some hot lovin if scars is holding out?

edit:
nm, Lawst was the one who focused on the gay thing, and he said you're all ready to give the lovin. <3

edit edit:
okok, the hot sweaty hairy man lovin related post series can end. It's not meant to imply Prinstoni needs or wants hot sweaty hairy man lovin in any fashion. We're trying to get him to stay afterall (not run away)!

I changed my mind and canceled my account... There is no reason to pay for a service I am not using, and I hope that AOC will be out before I have a chance to get back to DDO.

Good Luck to all my old mates, and maybe I'll come back someday.

Take care, good luck. I hope AOC sucks and you have a miserable time playing it. :p

That goes for everyone who's leaving for AoC. I hope you all find yourself bored and frustrated with the tedium, the repetition, the griefing and the annoying and ridiculous timesinks. I hope you all struggle with innumerable bugs that detract significantly from the gameplay, with developers who are completely non-responsive to your interests and feedback, with game servers that crash regularly and are filled with hordes of teenagers and pre-teens who pester you, hassle you and get in your way. I hope you spend your days listening to fellow players moan and whine about all the things that are wrong with the game, and give you long and detailed lists of all the awful things that they just can't stand about the game you and they are both paying for. I hope you find yourself wondering each night why you are wasting your time on such a wretched experience.

:D

(not kidding, but I hope you understand the underlying point)

That all games are the same and gamers inevitably will encounter these things no matter where they go? Therefore, stay where you are, keep your mouth shut, pay and play?
