View Full Version : So with this server merge and my hate going.

I have to wonder how some of the other servers ever got anything done. Here are my experiences this weekend.
Negatives.
A wizard that burnt all his mana at the entrance to STK. Proceed to run in and activate the trap room and tried to TWF all the kobolds down. They proceeded to repeatedly ask for a heal. I ditched that group quick.
A WW party that was at the end of 1 and going into 2. I joined them and then had a level 2 WF tank running around with a THW getting beat down. He was running away from the cleric and always asking for heals. I proceeded to tell him no. I am not going to burn all my sp on him when I have 4 other party memebers to heal who are much more productive. Yet another group I ditched.
Positives.
I put up an LFM saying speed run harbor elite. Two toons joined and asked what speed run was. I proceeded to tell them and they dropped. They were new players and I had limited time. But finally someone that asked questions.
I entered a searing heights group late. They had completed everything already. The sorc in the group proceeded to haste me and run me around and show me all the explorer quests so I was able to complete that.
I have to say. I have never used my squelch list before the server merge. There are some whacky people running aorund out there.
Does anyone else have any stories from this weekend?

Actually I had some very good runs this weekend with only one error... I had accidentally sat on my mute button (it's on my headset wire lol) a lot and found myself talking to no one more often than not:D
...my fav... the party leader was so happy with the last runs that he says "hey lets do SC Elite, with <name> here we can do it easily", and of course we're all lvl 4 and I'm saying ... "no way man... we'll get chewed" and of course he's thinking that I'm agreeing and I'm having a conversation of dissagreeance... and my cats think I'm insane 'cause even they know I'm talking to no one:eek:

Well this was earlier this week since I didn't get to play this weekend but was my first PUG since the merger.
Theres this guy names Scarsgaard I ended up grouping with on his WF sorc and me on my cleric. We decided to run queen prereqs. I grabbed the only guildie I had online at the time, a dwarven 2WF and threw up the lfm - WK and Blood fast. In less than 2 minutes I had a ranger, a fighter and another wf sorc (who actually sent me a /tell to see if I minded a lvl 11sorc for the run.. hell no, c'mon and play)
Now, the lfm said fast. Of course this is where you cross your fingers. Well we started to gather. Our fighter swapped to another char who needed WK, which was cool. We told him we would meet him there. Our ranger had the whole main floor cleared by the time we got there. And off we went. 16 minutes later we were done.
The dummy party leader (me) put blood up instead of chains - oops! so the party decided to do all three. Off to chains we went. A couple of deaths on the way because the slow cleric stopped at the shrine outside for mana. Got the boys up and in we went. Followed this up with Blood and ta-da! All 3 prereqs done in under 2 hours, including getting end rewards and taking time to sell and repair between blood and chains.
So, for my first post-merger PUG experience I must give it two thumbs up. Well except that Scars guy - jury is still out on him.

Consider yourself lucky. While my PuG experiences generally run 50/50, which I've come to expect, this weekend defintely dipped more towards the sour side...except for one group in particular. But they just bored the hell out of me.
I wonder if it all had to do with my serious lack of beer over the weekend? :(

I would blame the beer first. *nods solemnly* I know I am a much more boring person sober. *one more month, just one more month*
Now that I am over my first foray into the post merge pug scene, feel free to look me up. I may get lost inside a paperbag, but at least I am amusing :D

Sad to see that spoken... since the words bored to hell resonates in me hourly and if it weren't for my friends etc I'd be gone already... the new folkes are nice, in some cases cool but I'm so solidly bored that I've built a kiting ranger!!! And, my only reason for that is I love jumping and zapping... maybe I'll take a week off or something... go out and squish some butterflies or eat some babies or something...:)

My formula for pugging since the server merge has been as follows:
Either
1) Make sure I have at least 2 guildies or solid known players in the group
or
2) Run with my most solid, self sufficent, independent character.
Needless to say my wiz, bard and cleric have seen alot of use in guild groups, and my ranger has been loving the pugging.
I would say that I have only grouped with a couple of folks that actually hurt the party, a bunch that were along for the ride, and a few that were rock solid. Overall pretty much like pugging on Tharashk was, cept I am not totally sure of the folks and guilds to avoid yet.
Its all good though, getting DQ flagging groups filled pretty much instantly.

Yep...sometimes a week or two off does the mind good. Took a month off myself a little while back, when family was visiting...that's right...yes...a whole month of visiting family. I was DEFINITELY ready to get back to slaughtering kobolds after that fiasco we called a vacation. :p
As for the "bored as hell" part, I also blame it on running through Greymoon (not Co6) about 5 times in one day...made me just wanna cry.

Yeah with the trouble I have had leveling my new tanks I am on the verge of leaving to.

I've got one to add for ya Malnon and truth told, since we were both in the party, I'm surprised it didn't trip your memory.
Our little pug run of PotP on elite. Two clerics, level 14 and level 13, a level 11 caster, a level 12 ranger, and two tanks (lv14 fighter, and a 8 fighter-4 barb-2 rogue). Should be a pretty cake run with 3 nukers, a couple of good dps builds and a ranger to toss the buffs. Riiiiiiight.....what was I thinking?
So our tanks show up at the quest and I'm thinking to myself when the first one gets there, good thing we have two clerics because I really didn't expect to see a dual wielding tank in light armor. Then the second guy gets there and he's a 2-handed fighting build. OK, he made it to level 14 so he must be a pretty solid build and have some skills and abilities. Bugger....there I go thinking again.
Everyone buffs at the start, we take off up the hallway, by the time we've gotten to the skeleton, between nukes and healing these sponges the level 14 cleric's mana is pretty much dry. No sweat, DV's incoming. My mana having just made level 13 is about 1/3 since I was being liberal popping of destructions to play with the spell. No sweat, other cleric DV's me and I glance at the kill count. LV14 cleric is in the lead, I'm running a close second, and the caster is third. Not surprising since that first run is a nuke fest. But you have to be kidding me, no one else is even on the board. OK, whatever, I know we nuked a lot but I didn't think it was that much.
On to the rooms. This is where things go completely askew. I'm pulling switch for marut since we have two clerics...so why is the other cleric the only one standing after about 10 seconds when I know our caster buffed them. Uh guys, might wanna try going sword and board if you're getting pounded. No response. Res, rebuff, try again....PM sent...uh..these guys aren't getting the job done, let's go try another room. So off we go. Caster, 2 clerics, 2 tanks for air. We're done in about 10 seconds. On to vamp, and again we're resing half the party. Not surprisingly, the tanks are down again, "How did this happen, are you guys SURE you're wearing armor?" The wizard is down too. Without some protection, those guys really hate firewall apparently, wizards are kind of squidgy. OK, res and retry...hang on guys, I gotta go shrine. Hit the lever, off I go. Good, things went well this time. Swap places with the other cleric, he's off to shrine, and into fire. Destruct, Banish, saw a PK and an FOD and we're done. Off to ice...2 tanks, 2 clerics, and a wizard freshly shrined. OK, what's going on here, resing these guys every room is sort of getting to be a habit. OK, thank god our caster knows how to kite stuff through his firewall. Onto the DQ room. Guess what, looks like another repeat, pull the switch, res, bugger, I'm out of sp again and the other cleric is down to the bottom of the barrel. Mana run and we're back in business with full blue bars. This time we're good but where the heck is the second chest? Beholder or marut, beholder and hope for a Kardin's eye. Somehow, this room goes right. Kudos to the caster, 3 quick flesh to stones and "dang, no chest." Ok, back to the marut. Should be no problem. Dang it, what have I learned about thinking on this run? Bottom line, how the heck did both clerics go through 1100sp each on one stinking fight? Well, I hope the end boss goes better cause I really don't want to recall out again for mana. OK, hope you guys know what a phalanx is. Wow, something went right, couple of good firewalls, maybe a few too many heals but no one died except the guy over anxious to grab the orb. Res him, recall and thank God we're done with this. I check the XP report out of curiosity and the time this took was sickening. What was worse, both our tanks added together didn't equal the kill count of any of the casters. So much for thinking these were good DPS builds.
So that's my horror story for the weekend.
On the other hand, I had two fantastic groups. One did a double run of threnal east on elite, changing characters to get two sets through for everyone with very minimal trouble. The other was a double raid group smoking the Titan on elite both days. Yeah, these guys were techincally PUGs since they weren't guildies but let me tell you, the two other guilds we were running with in them were some top-end players and the topics of conversation in the party were amusing to say the least. Some of the most fun raiding we've done in a long time. Thanks for the good runs to remind me not everyone is going to make me pull out the little hair that hasn't been rubbed off by my flight helmet.

Still waiting for Legion to break down and invite me, /sigh, no avail. Other than that had a very productive weekend, and can say with the utmost honesty that I can count on one hand the amount of bad PUG's I've had since the merger.
And considering I do nothing but PUG that's pretty derned good. I'm very proud of our player base. At least all the ones that I've met so far. Minus one.
You know who you are... and it's not over. Not by a long shot pal.

Never said they should be close.
I said they didn't add up to what any of the casters had.
And even you have to admit that they should at least add up to double digits.......

Well it wasn't the weekend, but it technically was for me. 4 PoP runs, pulled 2 paras and got a disrupter for end reward.
Best runs for me EVER!

The marut room.
This run was not even worth mentioning. It was so bad I would have rather just forgotten al about the time I wasted on it. I will say that I have been in some good parties that had trouble with the marut room and have wiped in there. Especially if the wights spawn.
