A silly fix for IPS "height" issues

Ugh. IPS on PDK misses *everything*. What we need are ..

POTIONS OF GNOMIFICATION
Description: It's a small world.
Duration: Until shrine or zone.

Ideally, they should be sold on a vendor for one of the currencies that has very little use in game, such as platinum.

POTIONS OF EXTREME GNOMIFICATION
Description: Your tiny life acquires a pointy hat.
Duration: Buggy. You can't TR out. You are a gnome forever.

The potions that also give your character a tall red pointy cap cosmetic should (of course) cost more and perhaps have other drawbacks in the name of balance.

A player who can't take the time to type out fully Improved Precise Shot wants DDO to take the time and man hours to codify two new potions for the game?

On a more positive note...


If you turn off Auto Targeting and do NOT target a mob but merely face a direction and fire...everything in the path of your shot will be hit. My lives with shooters worked much better using that mechanic than by targeting a mob and shooting at it when using Improved Precise Shot.

A similar concept would be an enhancement like “Shoot from the hip” that lowers the origin point for ranged attacks relative to your model height. New animations wouldn’t necessarily be required to make it work mechanically, but would be cool.

How about: Potion, Shoot from the Hips: You hold the weapon in such a way as to leverage it from the height of your midsection.

Of course the devs would give it an 18 sec duration and 20 second cooldown, and everyone else would make phallic comments.

Just saying, I had no clue what "IPS" was until I scrolled past his post. I have yet to figure out what "PDK" is....

The only place with more (pointless) acronymns than an MMO is the Army .. an organization that uses POV (personally owned vehicle) to refer to something that already has just three letters and only a single syllable: a "car".

Just finished my 3rd 1-32 life as Dark Hunter and 2 were ranged bow builds; Elf for AA and Shadar-kai because going from 15 to 32 is faster... and IPS (yes, IPS, not Improved Precise Shot since EVERYONE knows what that means or can ask...) was wonky as usual regardless of targeting compared to small races. It absolutely did not hit ALL in my path and frequently hit NONE in my path. None. Not only the 1st or the last. None. Arguing about it being broken makes very little sense. When was your last bow life? I am currently running a Halfling bow build and I am hitting all in the line with IPS in auto-target and checked to see yes, no target mode.

Or just make projectiles' hitbox a vertical line so that there was no more "shooting over" mobs regardless of height

Or just make everyone shoot from a standard height even if the projectile's visuals are slightly misaligned for taller characters

Or make the block button while wielding a ranged weapon put you into a crouch, which prevents all motion except tumbling (like block) and gives you the benefits of blocking plus doubles your weapon's Enchantment bonus to-hit
