    Default How much damage should Meltfang do?

    If average 1 stack damage is ~100 (5 stacks being ~500) per hit, I am just not sure why people are complaining about Meltfang.
    Isn't Meltscale doing much less with only 15d6 (~52.5).
    I am curious how much extra damage per hit people think it should do to be "useful" or "worthwhile."

    Some have suggested numbers as high as 1700 should be for 1 stack (translates to 8500 per hit at 5 stacks.)

    This is honest curiosity for what people think the damage output for a single affix should be.

    I just went and tested this, and I think this has a bigger and more pressing issue than anything else (yes, including damage).

    1. The timer on each stack is 3 (THREE) seconds.
    2. This can stack up to 5 times.
    3. The ENTIRE stack is cleared if not refreshed within 3 seconds.
    4. The description reads a large stack can be applied, but only ever 1 is applied.

    So, yeah. Some stuff needs adjusting.

    I agree on this point but view it as a problem for how it is advertised as calling it a DoT is very generous. It is more a ramping damage effect in practice. As it is a shared debuff, each person using it can refresh the stack keeping the On-Hit at its maximum (even 1 person can keep it going if trying.) When being refreshed continually the DoT is never seen.

    The description I see (whether from the augment itself or the augment in the item) reads, "Your attacks and spells deal a large amount of stacking Acid damage over time." Perhaps you are finding a different description?

    Thank you. I am still curious "How much damage should Meltfang do?" as presently it seems to per tick average about half Dripping with Magma due to Meltfang's amazingly low low end (seen as low as 3 now), but due to the length of DwM's internal cooldown the damage seems to even out.

    I guess it comes down to this - is it a DOT or is it Dripping Lite? In other words - what's the ICD? Is there a proc chance or does it apply a stack with every hit?

    If it stacks and procs on every hit, then yeah ramping up to 500 damage per hit isnt bad at all for a fully customizeable weapon that can also take LGS style debuffs and material bypass. If its just a % to apply, or has something like a 2 sec ICD, then yeah that neuters any value it might have.

    In general on DOTs
    1) DOTs start when their countdown reaches 0;
    2) When a DOT gets reapplied, the timer on it resets;
    3) You'll hardly ever see the first tick go off unless you wait for it;
    4) Makes it worth it in boss fights, otherwise you're better off with other items.

    The paperwork on this new effects:
    5) The scaling with melee/ranged/elemental power is unknown;
    6) It is a level 32 item, seeing the same dice as on similar effects as a level 26 item than the scaling is off.

    This^, in so many words, is how you say time and feedback on Lamannia are wasted.

    Yes, that is why this thread exists, not to say what the numbers are or to complain that they are too low, but to ask what players think the numbers need to be. It is an adjacent topic.

    Seems to be a 100% proc rate and a very short internal cooldown, likely 1 second or less.

    I imagine less than 1 second, my 100% off hand proc TWF with 45% (Haste Boosted) saw the Acid proc on both strikes. If there was a cooldown, likely the offhand wouldn't get a consideration in.

    However, on a melee with 34% Doublestrike, 123 Melee Power, I saw 3-500 acid damage each proc at max stacks. I've forgotten what the caster version is like, so I'll go check those again in a moment, but I "think" they're around the same, even though the caster has a much greater Spell Power equvalent in Acid Spell Power vs the Melee Power + Doublestrike. Back in a mo.

    Oh, forgot to add, that this was vs the Magefire Canon on the guild ship. So some numbers may be increased through vulnerability, etc.

    :: edit ::

    And yeah, against the Triceratops out front of Isle of Dread, was seeing 200-500 numbers. 527 Acid Spell Power though on the caster.

    Actually, thinking about it, I'll just take the TWF to the same Triceratops, see how that works, since I don't have to worry about any vulnerability ot helpless at that point. One mo...

    :: edit ::

    And yep. Vs the Triceratops, I was getting around the same acid damage, 200-500. Unsure if it's because the MP equivalent is around the same to the Acid Spellpower on the caster, or whether the damage is just a flat number. Although a poster in the other thread suggested that the SP increase affected the average numbers upwards.

    I tried it on the magefire cannon on a thrower with 157% doubleshot, 187 ranged power, 449 acid spellpower, and a 10mrr debuff from ooze, was seeing between roughly 100-1300.

    what are the damage for "Icefang" Adds Chaotic alignment bypass. Your attacks and spells have a chance to inflict ten stacks of Cold damage over time ???

    Meltfang VS Icefang ?
