Default If you could IMPROVE a quest with one thing what would it be?

I had an idea, if you could could improve a quest/an adventure set/a wilderness with just one addition or change what would it be?

    I'll go first...

My first thought was Smash & Burn... I would put reset levers or buttons on the dice puzzles. Click once, reset to starting position. I don't know about you guys but that is still one of the laggiest quests in-game to me and the second puzzle that requires the most moves often has a column or two that wander around the area like npcs... its very Escher.

That is a great idea for ANY of those puzzles. Let us reset.

Mine would be adding the ability to ride a horse through Stormcleave. Its an outdoor area, and riding back to the outpost after killing the giant is a time-sink. Just let me hop on my horse and report back.

Magic is a curious thing; full of hope and promise one minute, then someone summons a t-rex jet fighter to kill you.

A catch-up mechanic for Kind of a Big Deal. I've been farming an item there off and on and it's incredibly annoying for someone joining late since they have to walk through the entire quest. Being able to use your horse? Some sort of openable shortcut like Sunrise?

Really any quest with party gather mechanics should have catch-up mechanics as well IMO; I'm not asking for teleports or instant gathers (Memoirs is really nice, but that's better than I'd ask for) but having to walk an entire quest especially for linear quests is pretty lame for everyone involved. Some way to speed things, drop-down ladders, shortcuts, etc - would make my life a lot nicer

+1. Also for me when I jump onto the puzzle sometimes nothing happens so after waiting a few seconds I jump straight up to hit the same column and boom it hits twice

    The Titan Awakes

A whole pack is sitting there collecting dust.. Restless Isles Pack has been dead for years.

Separate raid from pre-raid, add some substance to the raid instead of 9 people afk on a ladder while 3 people run the raid.

    Good one.

I'd reduce the elemental damage in certain raids like Riding the Storm Out and Too Hot to Handle.

The lightning damage in RtSO is overly punishing as is the fire damage in THtH, especially when you consider Energy Sheath is no longer an option for most toons.

If limited to one thing, I would add a Guide to the Menechtarun wilderness area who will take a player character to any single quest entrance for 500 platinum pieces, no previous visit required.

Ooooh that's a good one. I'd pay that every time for Chains. Hate going all the way up that circuitous route.

If there's going to be exposition, or any long dialogue by an NPC critical to finishing the quest, just make sure killing them "too fast" doesn't break the quest. Please. (Maybe hear the dialogue through a closed door, one that then opens only once they're done, whatever it takes!)

I'm not sure it would be possible the way they have quests and mounts coded. Its too bad because if they chose to they could have selectively added quest-specific mounts. For example, in Stormcleave Outpost there could be a group of mounts say eating grass by one of the shrines perhaps the shrine closest to the portal that takes you to General Xantilar. The mounts would be non-interactable until Xantilar is defeated at which time players could then mount them to return to the outpost commander.

Any, each, and every quest that requires two or more players to complete:

Let us mount horses in quests once the quest is complete. Would be very helpful for latecomers, people that had to brb, or just people that got lost.

I would like the chests in redfang to be changed into coccons <3

There are a ton of little changes I'd like to see in quests but thanks to the etr cycle, it's the low level quests that I see the most.

Von3 intro quest allows horses, so it's clearly doable to some degree? There's a lot of things you have to do in Stormcleave so it's not like the whole party would just be zerging by all the mobs, that wouldn't be very effective I don't think.

As if GS/LGS suicide + backpack isn't already better for multibox farming

I'm always in favor of partial catch-up mechanics so I like this one if there's some reasonable way to balance/code it.

I forgot about that... maybe its not as hard coded as I was thinking. Hmmm it opens up interesting possibilities. I still think any quest or wilderness with a stable should have a non-interactable horse placed there for set-dressing. Makes the environment more immersive. For instance, a horse could be added to the stable outside the Harper Lodge in Detour or even the Barn portion of A Stay at the Inn.
