    Default Mabar Key Drop Rates

So 5 runs through that delara's quest and I have 5 keys.

Tried it 5 levels over, 3 levels over at level, 2 levels under and 3 levels under.

I have 5 keys ... that is a LOT lower than previous years.

Is that what others are seeing? I figured I would run each of the challenges once for the XP and to hopefully get this painful racial done but if I have to run that quest once for every challenge I want to run it's not going to fly for me.

I know my sample size is small but as I have said in years past I probably would have made enough keys to run all the challenges once in 5 or 6 runs of the "pre-quest"

It was very very random for me. Sometimes I'd get no keys for three runs in a row, and then I'd get three in a single run.

I stopped running it when I saw how many keys I was getting from regular questing.

I wasn't getting anyting from regular questing outside of the odd champ chest with chocolate. 0 keys total from regular questing.

I am now 7 for 7 ... if I get to 10 runs and it's a 1 for 1 then once I get my key I am quitting the instance I think. Sounds like it may be a "just me" thing, or at least it's a "not you" thing.

There really should be a guaranteed one in the end chest though, people have been saying THAT since the change.

I haven't even run any of the challenges and I am already sick of this event, and it is the only one I generally like to run but this year this drop rate is just.. OOOFFFff

Last weekend, I made dozens of forays and consistently averaged 3 keys a run. I wonder if the real throttle is something like one key every three minutes.

Edit: The drop rate on keys in chests is really low. I am finding them, but not many. I have yet to see a single key drop in a Night Revels Champion chest (or whatever they are called).

Hmm, weird, I got like 10 keys from my runs of the challenge thing, got 40+ from my levelling runs in heroic (reaper 4ish) plus some high reaper cap paly.

Well the record is 10 runs ... 14 keys. Any multi-key run was run at level. Not every at level run resulted in more that 1 key but I didn't get more than 1 from any run that wasn't at level.

last year 10 runs would have netted me 25-35 keys easily so, for me, it's, at best, 1/2 the drop rate I would have expect. Hell in years past I was literally giving the keys away to anyone who wanted / needed a handful.

I know 10 quests isn't a lot but it's no exactly a couple bad runs either. At any rate I have enough for 1 challenge run each and then I will auction whatever I have left. 5 levels over your level is still optimum XP correct?

Just was at my bank and I have 25 rusted keys from last year sitting there. THAT's too bad actually.

Those champ chests add up. I've received over 100 keys and most of them are from those champ chests (only ran the delera's instance once for first time exp bonus). The best advice I can give people is to just play as though the event is not happening and then use the keys you acquire from questing near the end of the event (though of course you can use whatever you have earlier if you are at the end of a life and just want the exp to finish or have acquired too many keys already).

Meanwhile, doing gianthold saga on r1 resulted in me getting 6 keys. The drop rate on revels chests/keys in them is pretty good for anyone who wants to just get them while leveling.

5 levels over level is optimum drop rate for mats but I believe you have to run CR35 for max experience. This is definitely true if you are already at epic levels, but I know Eveningstar challenges offer lower experience if you are below level 20 than if you are above level 20 when running the level 30 instance. I don't know if there is any difference in experience between the level 29 and level 30 Eveningstar challenge for a heroic character but I suppose you could test it before running your Mabar instances to see if there is reason to expect CR35 to give more experience than 5 above your level.

Yes, the drop rate from playing the game is awesome. Granted, I am playing everything on reaper so I can't comment on the lower difficulties that have fewer champs. This event definitely rewards people that are grouping up and racing through as many quests as possible.

    Default Timer on Key Drops?

There seems to be a timer on key drops to prevent AOE group one shots from dropping more than 1 key.

I've farmed about 200 keys on my level 14 (now 16) barb and average 3-4 a run, but I use his cleaves at the beginning of a group and move around a lot to avoid killing too many at a time. If I take my alchemist hes lucky to get 1 or 2 keys a run.

The number is highly variable, ill go 2 or 3 runs without a key then get 8 or 10 in 1 run.

No guarantee but I'm pretty sure there is a short timer when a key drops to prevent AOE from getting keys really fast.

EDIT and I run 3 over typically, seems to be the fastest per time drop rate for me. May not be different than 5 over but runs faster. Less than 3 over I kill too many at a time do to strike through, more than 3 over and it takes longer to do the circuit.

Don't run the whole quest, just run until the first boss, then shrine, recall and start again, the first section has a much higher density of mobs.

I don't know if it's absolute, but it seems pretty consistent that orange named champs in quests dropped keys in their chest, while normal champs just dropped chocolate

So if you're running quests with more orange names, you will see more keys. And higher difficulty will give more champs than lower. Maybe you could grind Bruntsmash or the start of Tharashk Arena or something if you really wanted to grind but didn't want to grind Delera

I did an iconic TR and just playing regular quest from level 15 to level 17 I have gotten 22 night revels keys

Update: a total of 26 keys gained from regular quest, levels 15 to 20.

I haven't done any of the Delera's quests yet. But I leveled from about 14 to 30 and got over 40 keys just doing regular leveling quests, mostly on elite and R1. TR'd again so I'm back at low levels again, will use some of these keys for leveling this time around.

Default Nevermind a horseshoe, I believe it was the whole horse...

I too over the times have had good and bad luck in runs. Back to back runs in previous seasons with no Keys.

Last night was a two run effort for the ages for me.

    21 Keys in 2 runs.

Not sure what it was, level 14 running at 15. I had a cleric hire, my scarecrow and a summons.

I was running with a Greater Treasure Hunter's Elixir and that with the stacking 10% maybe that made a difference?

Kind of cool, I was mostly running for chocolates for some potions but I welcomed the Keys.
I have another run or two now and I will have my + 2 con augment, then buy all the potions I can an AH the rest for below market value.

    (Share in the good fortune)
After a little Tolkien I am usually up for anything.
