Mounts in Store - Question

Mount up with the fast Bone Devil Armored Nightmare!Grants access to a fast mount token that can be redeemed to add the mount to your character's mount stable. Single use. Bound to Character.

Not entirely sure that description is 100% clear.

The token you get from the store is bound to character.
If I use the token do I get the Bone Devil Armored Nightmare:

1) On a Single Character
2) On Every Character on a Single Server
3) A token on Each server allowing access to every character on ever server?
4) Some other combination

At 2495, for the Bone Devil Armored nightmare, and 1995 for the Fast Horses (Bay Palomino, Chestnut) points I am hoping 3 is the correct answer, however I suspect its 2. Even though it is written to imply 1.

I am not going to disagree, I think that they are each at least 1,000 points too expensive. That being said I wanted to know how the fine print worked as it is unclearly written.

2495 for a mount is really ridicilous though... I hope it's a pricing mistake because it's the same price as a whole expansion like Masterminds of Sharn *facepalm*

Lmbo. I agree the pricing is hysterical. But I have no doubt there will be some people that pay it. Luckily, for me I guess, they didn't put the blue Feywild Nightmare in the store so I don't even have to think about it. They should seriously think about putting something in the store so people can try out/preview these mounts. How else will they know what these items look like in-game?

If they are meant to be BTA in the Mount Stable shouldn't they be in the store under Account or Cosmetics... but they are in the store under Character in particular which suggests they are usable by only that character.

Do not buy the Chestnut and Palomino, they can be gotten from Borderlands with feathers.

I bought them and they have been added to the mount stable like my other mounts so all my characters can use them on the server I play on. As for other servers I have no idea on that front. In theory they should but I haven't tested it yet.

No doubt someone will buy it. But there are many people like us who would have bought it at a more reasonable price. They are most likely losing money, because many small purchases are often more money than very few large-price purchases.

The luxury market works very well for certain types of products, but I would say that this is not the right market for it lol

Because it is Server Specific is that why the Mount category is under Character in the Store versus Account? I sincerely suggest you guys change this to give a token to the first character that logs on to each server. That would at least justify the price somewhat.

Would loved to have bought one, because honestly good looking cosmetics are just about the only things I buy at this point, but at that price - never. Nor am I gonna spring for 5 months of VIP just to acquire one "for free".

That price is just ludicrous.

Standing Stone Games has over 10 years of sales data selling mounts in The Lord of the Rings Online. At this point, I tend to think they have a good handle on selling luxury goods.

Mounts in the Lord of the Rings Online often cost 1995 points for a single character. Server wide mounts cost more but I forget the pricing. Such mounts regularly go on sale for 20% off. Over the years, just about every mount in that game has appeared on sale for 75% off.

While waiting for a deep sale on something you really want because you are short on money sucks, I think most adult human beings know the drill.

The very same day these mounts appear in the Game Shop, Standing Stone Games gave away the ability to earn all the Borderlands horses. That was extremely generous and I do not fault them for selling new luxury products to gain back the revenue.

If you ever wanted Standing Stone Games to sell cosmetics instead of power, here it is.

I am excited about the addition of mounts to the game shop and will very probably purchase one at some time in the future.

Well that does sound like a positive. I personally cannot justify that price to myself, but if others can good for them.

All I'm gonna point out here for consideration is that SSG has had years of sales metrics from The Other Game (tm) to make decisions regarding pricing on store mounts. I imagine they also took the different audience into account, since it's not a straight-up copypasta.

Additionally, unlike The Other Game (tm), the price at least grants you that mount to all characters on your chosen server via the stable, so IF I bought one on my single played server in DDO, I'd get it on 26 characters. Over there, that price gets you a mount on the ONE character you bought it on unless you bought the all-servers account-wide version for double the price. We do come out ahead in that, at least. They have also included mounts in the weekly sales rotations over there, so I would imagine that might happen in the future over here after the new car smell wears off. Who knows?

Whether you find value in them or buy them or not isn't my concern cos it doesn't affect me either way and I ain't your mom. All I would hope is that people don't act like the WoW community when it comes to store mounts, where people who hate them used certain in-game emotes on those who chose to buy them frequently enough that Blizz had to remove or alter those emotes due to the sheer toxicity.
