    Default Few questions

    Hey folks,

I've been away from game for a long time (maybe update 29?) and was wondering what are some good tips to get back in the swing of things?

Is Heroic Completionist feat worth getting back? I'd need Alchemist life.

Are FvS and Fighters still good?

What Packs and/or Gear should I be considering?

    Horses?

I'm sure more will come to mind as I'm poking about
    Git off mah lawn!

If, If's and But's was Candies and Nuts, we'd all have a Merry Christmas.

Since TRing is easier than ever, no reason not to get one class life for it. Good FVS light nuking build in FVS section, their spells have recently been boosted. Fighters not so much. THF Paladins can do most everything and Barbs have blood tribute while Fighters are well...yeah. Gear is now split into 3 extremely powerful sections - L5 Feywild (most recent expansion) L10 Ravenloft (two expansions back) L15 Sharn (previous expansion). All have corresponding epic items as well. Sharn gear is so good most people now use L15 Sharn until L29 when the end game gear gets equipped (which is also Sharn and now Feywild with a smattering of raid gear thrown in). These gear sets have mostly replaced all older gear with some exceptions (your Might of Vulkoor set on melee is still useful for example) You'll want a horse asap. Can get it by farming Borderlands. It does take a while but well worth it. There is also a robust raiding end game again from what I've experienced although that may be curtailed a bit for the next month or two as most people are playing Hardcore (permadeath server).

Thank you for that. I may put off the Tring for a bit until I get familiar once again with things and finish leveling a couple characters. Seems like I've got some loot to farm in the new packs!

Fighters can be extremely powerful if built correctly. The downside is the lack of self-healing, though that is now solved easily with the Aasmir race. My pure THF Aasmir fighter is a blast to play. You get a good lay on hands ability, healing amp, and with Bond of Fallen, you get vulnerability on hit... always good to have a debuff on any weapon you hold. Plus you have a ton of feats to play around with.

Heroic Completionist is always worth grabbing. If you really want a challenge, you could go for racial completionist as well. All the benefits of regular completionist, plus a boost to skills, higher starting stats, and 15 more racial ability points. Its a LONG grind though (3 lives in each race).

for packs, I would say Sharn and Ravenloft are a must. Sharn has probably the best gear, and Ravenloft is just an amazing module from start to finish (I dare say it is probably THE best expansion DDO has ever put out).

Horses are fun. Makes it easier to get across wilderness areas quickly (makes running around Sands or GH almost bearable).

Magic is a curious thing; full of hope and promise one minute, then someone summons a t-rex jet fighter to kill you.

Every little buffs help so the stacking +2 abilities are helpful.
FvS is awesome. I'd try that one first.
Fighter is still good but they have no reliable self healing and if they take out sel-healing from epic destinies it will have to rely on others or on hirelings which is aweful.

Currently paladin is the supported class.

Everybody runs reaper now which comes with self-healing penalty (among other penalties).

Masterminds of sharn has the best gear, Ravenloft is the best expansion with good gear.

Horses are great especially if you want to catch up with a party already in quest.
You nerfed my monks, throwers, dailies and alchemists.
I hardly play anymore, found a better hobby.
    Thank You!

The direction the game has gone is "one main character"; between Heroic, Racial, Iconic and Epic, there's something just over 150(!) past lives you can pursue for all possible perks, so that's a looooooooong road even if you're only doing the ones that help your current/final build.

Some players do park alts at 20 or 30 to do farming, but your main might as well get started.

(And many players do still enjoy running more than one "main" - I do, but my playstyle still echoes the legacy of how the game was "back in the day". )

    So...

So... since Leveling and TR'ing is MUCH easier now than it used to be, you might as well do that farming while you're TR'ing. Because some of that farming is a pretty vast project in itself.

Or at least consider it, TR once to get a feel (and a little stronger), and then make your final decision on a strategy.

Gotcha, I too think back of how the game was "back in the day." Seemed a lot easier to have a stable of characters. At this point I think I'll leave most parked and dust them off once in awhile for fun while I get my main back up to speed.
