Question on Friends List and Chat-Related Issues

Thanks for posting the screenshot TitusOvid. Although it's perplexing how such things are freely communicated on some random, hidden niche third-party fan site. Whereas no effort whatsoever has been made on the Official DDO Forum; within an official thread, during 2021. :-/

It wouldn't have mattered if there had been a message in the Forum saying nearly the same, e.g. "We are aware and haven't found a solution, yet, etc." It's the fact there still hasn't been an official response within the forum itself.

Isn't that niche 3rd party fansite... Discord?... So very niche... Microsoft wanted to buy it for 10 billion USD...
Honestly I still don't get why everyone is so dependent on in game voice. The codec sucks and always has even back in ventrilo's prime time. Grab discord make a server or group call for your party of randoms and invite them into it.

I haven't seen in game text chat go down in months. So what ever they did back when wayfinder oopsed seems to have decreased it.

Vehementi, Discord does not even function on my system, and you adviced: I try use Discord? So no, that will not solve the issue. Giving an alternative to the in-game messaging system is completely irrelevant with regards to my questions.

Clearly you misunderstood or misread what I was saying; I was talking about official communication via: DDO Forums or the ddo.com domain. Youtube, Twitch, Twitter, Facebook, Discord, DDO Wiki, are independent entities from SSG.

Severlin, obviously talked about the problem on Twitch and someone with the handle of 'Steelstar' responded to some random conversation possibly on Discord. I'm basically talking about direct DDO Forum communication from SSG on the subject and not communication via outside social media sources - there is a difference.

To be fair, I asked Steelstar during his coffee hour he does on the unofficial official discord. That said, I did it because we don't get a lot of communication on this official side.

And a game studio that can't maintain it's own (voice) chat servers so the players have to rely on 3rd party programs is sad, really. And it opens up some concerns and problems, too. But never mind that. I believe that ingame communication in an MMO game is crucial. And DDO needs some good coordination in a few situations. You are missing a good portion of the game, too, if you can't communicate properly.

If this gets buried under the next update, expansions or whatever this problem will hit the 1 year anniversary. What a sad milestone.

The Thelanis Chat Servers still appear to be sporadic when they decide to bother to establish a connection. That problem is persistent and (at least for my account) has been occurring on a daily basis since around July 2020.

It's quite impressive that SSG can provide such misconfigurated Chat servers for near to 12 months.

I want to get a better sense of how many players are still experiencing issues with their Friends list and other chat-related issues, like voice chat not working and/or guild chat not working. We KNOW Thelanis is still experiencing this issue, but not how many are impacted.

It's quite impressive that SSG can provide such misconfigurated Chat servers for over 12 months and not offer any DDO Forum feedback nearly a year on the subject in the official thread.

Just wanted to say that we are still actively investigating, but so far have not been able to resolve it. FYI as well that my own characters on Thelanis are impacted, so it should be pretty easy for me to know when this gets fixed.

Still no response, aside from the echoes.

Whenever I log in (Argonnessen) there is a chance that it will take up to 5 minutes, maybe longer, before I connect to the chat servers. If the game crashes (about once every other day on average) the change that this happens goes close to 100%.

TBH this whole issue is so pathetic what really gets me is these devs use discord to chat ........and assume we all use it i do we love it as a guild but really ssg is piggybacking on discord and neglecting the in game chat ........so bad and my goodness all the bs talk of new players lol really chat doesnt work .....how the hell does a new player know discord is the way ........maybe its time ssg discloses that in fact discord is the standard for the game ...utter joke

Happens nearly every time I log in on Cannith and guildies regularly complain about the same issue. It can take anywhere from 5 mins to a couple hours to connect to chat.

Luckily you are aware of the issue and actively investigating, so I know we can expect a speedy fix to roll out in the next decade or two.
