Question on Friends List and Chat-Related Issues

Ok, so what's it going to take to get a response to the question I have repeatedly asked in this thread? Are the chat issues being investigated? Simple question or so I thought.

The communication from management to the players is absolutely atrocious in this game.

Having come back to the game I find it worse than ether. What is this **** with party-chat not working any more? And for what I read it has been for some time now and Cordovan glances with his absent. Sad...
Also the lag is still here as it has been for the past 10+ years...

Since game is down, figured I'd chime in also. Chat, lag, and the friends list continue to plague gamers on Thelanis. What I don't understand is why the development staff and communications liasons won't simply tell the community what's going on. Are these issues being addressed? If so, what's the status? If not, why not? after being back in the game for a year, I've pretty much determined the apathy of the dev team is right about where it was when I originally left in 2015.

What isn't known is whether the devs would like to comment, but are told by the suits that they cannot.. or if it's something else. The reasons aren't known by "us".

I deal with customers (who have problems) in my job. Not too often, but when I get involved, things usually aren't good. Customers appreciate honesty and being told what's up. That said, it generally holds true for Western cultures. Asian cultures are very different in that regard. However, DDO/SSG are operating in more of a western culture, so some honest communication tends to go a long way. Customers are willing to put up with a lot of **** as long as they feel you're being honest and up front with them (and working to help them).

Not sure anyone has noticed, but the lag is different than it was before the Data Center move. Before that move, the players would lag, but the mobs would not. You'd come out of the lag, dead. Now, both the mobs and the players lag (usually). So something is different, something has changed.

I have been asking since November for an update and management has not commented. I hate to assume things things but it looks like this is one of those issues that they will not or can not fix.

They could stop people from making assumptions by saying something as simple as ..yes we are working on this but I guess other things are more important to them at this point.

All servers are still having problems. This is a big issue for month now. Do we still need a 1 year anniversary on this?

I've even had time to upgrade my Router since last week, and this specific problem still persists and occurs on a daily basis - at least on my account it does. I'd have about zero lag over the last three months except perhaps the very rare latency spike - so I certainly haven't seen any excessive in-game lag or drop in connection.

During: Chat with Severlin - Dungeons & Dragons Online (February 24, 2021, 12:17). Available at around [12:17] Severlin, chatters about "halo" causing the "Chat server" connectively issues. However, we both know that's likely the fairytale explanation. Nonetheless the problem is still occurring daily and there's still no timely DDO Forum communication from SSG on the subject.

A community manager should act as the liaison between an organisation and its audience. They act as the voice, tone, and moderator of the brand through community support, content distribution, and digital engagement to build brand presence and trust online.

It won't be that long until this thread celebrates it first birthday party; it's certainly looking like it will achieve that milestone. :-)

Maybe an old topic but this is still happening. The most common cause seems to be when a person gets stuck in a loading screen while in a party (or raid group especially) and restarts their client in order to zone into whatever area they were trying to zone into. For whatever reason the chat server doesn't always reset when a person first logs back into DDO after such a disconnection. Presumably the chat server still holds on to the old connection for some time until it expires before it connects again.

Not sure if I should be glad that I'm not the only person still experiencing loading screen fails and chat server unavailable messages. Lag is still rampant, perhaps not quite as bad as it was before the update but still having groups stutter through quests (pruge the fallen shrine on Sunday was like watching a Ray Harryhausen film.
On the plus side, the game's up today.

Perceptibly the game performance changes in U49 did nothing to eliminate: "The chat server is temporarily unavailable.", messages from occurring daily.



The above fantasy video is around 30 minutes in length, obviously its entertaining. Unlike the average losing of 30-minutes of Chat server availability, which is the typical amount of time I have to wait (typically a 5-minute period before it establishes a connection) during a 3-day period before the Chat server functions. It's not uncommon for the "The chat server is temporarily unavailable." message to occur two or more times per day.

I'm almost looking forward to the thread celebrating it first birthday party, will Birthday cake be on offer? Currently it's looking like there hasn't been any visible progress made to resolve this specific Chat server issue this year.

I havent been able to read my chat for weeks, especially with awaiting new glasses. I finally realized today, after playing with colours and sizes, that the issue is I normally play using the black chat background, which is now no longer an option. It's clear only which means I have to keep changing the text colour depending on the background behind the chat or I cant even see the letters at all. What is going on, please, and can you change it back ? It's hard enough to read anyways since I cant make the text bold. Thank you from a 1/2 blind nerd

Click the teeny little "eye" icon on the upper right-hand corner of your chat box, that hides/unhides the chat, making it see through or with a darker black background.

(I have a UI skin so it may look slightly different from your UI appearance).

Thanks for posting the screenshot TitusOvid. Although it's perplexing how such things are freely communicated on some random, hidden niche third-party fan site. Whereas no effort whatsoever has been made on the Official DDO Forum; within an official thread, during 2021. :-/

It wouldn't have mattered if there had been a message in the Forum saying nearly the same, e.g. "We are aware and haven't found a solution, yet, etc." It's the fact there still hasn't been an official response within the forum itself.
