Question on Friends List and Chat-Related Issues

Myself, my wife, my son, my two daughters and two of my friends that I play with have all been experiencing the chat issues for a couple of months. During any given play session we repeatedly receive messages saying that we failed to join chat server and that we joined the chat server. Voice chat doesn't work, party chat doesn't work, general chat doesn't work, /say and /tell do work. None of the people I mentioned are on the forums so I am letting you know because, like them, I suspect there are quite a number of people who are experiencing the issues but do not visit/post on the forums. I can't speak to the friends list issue because none of us use the feature (we mainly play amongst ourselves with me being the only one that does PUGs).

Same here voice chat working 10% of the time , party chat broken, guild chat broken and friend list gone.

Is there any ETA for the fix

I want to get a better sense of how many players are still experiencing issues with their Friends list and other chat-related issues, like voice chat not working and/or guild chat not working. We KNOW Thelanis is still experiencing this issue, but not how many are impacted. Additionally, it isn't clear if this is still happening outside of Thelanis. Let me know.

Thelanis chat has been up and down for me for over three months. Works randomly. Sometimes it resets after a few minutes. Sometimes it doesn't reset at all. At this very moment Thelanis is down completely.

chat is still patchy on thelanis, friends list is still basically non existant. if swapping characters, its a new lottery what will work or not after the relog

but the main issue now is that thelanis has just dropped for no apparent reason, with no warning.............

lets maybe focus with "does it function" ahead of finessing how it feels..

Chat on Thelanis is still highly unreliable. I have no typed chat or voice 8/10 times I login. From what I've seen, this is pretty typical for Thelanis right now. It's getting really frustrating. I run mostly in pugs and can't communicate except through tells, which doesn't work quickly. Ddo is a co-operative game, and it's crippled by lack of chat. Guildies and I use discord to communicate, but that has limited usefulness in pugs. I used to buy ddo points whenever they went on sale. Now I'm not. I'm looking forward to the next expansion, but I wonder if it is a good idea to spend money on a broken game.

Same error with 'chat server temp unavail, not able to connect. Restarting generally gets it back but it's not 100% and it's not everyone in the group able to see.

Starting to feel I need a pug discord that can just be passed around for groups to join as a 'hey if you have discord use this while grouping with me if you can' but it feels backward to have to almost require groups to have discord for a game that has the chat and voice built in.

On Thelanis:
I don't really use chat. My friends list is gone. I cannot send items by mail. When I try, it says "You must wait before interacting with your inventory again."

-After exiting and restarting DDO, my friends list is back, and I can mail 1 inventory item, then inventory is completely broken. I cannot make ANY change to inventory, gather items into bags, etc. Cannot equip or unequip ammo, clothes, weapons, etc. NOTHING.

-This inventory/mail problem does not happen when sending mail to other characters on the same account, but once it does happen, I then cannot send items to anyone, including on the same account.

The use of friends list on Thelanis is useless to me as well as a couple of real life friends. Also chat on Thelanis is so hit and miss it is not funny. Cannith for the group of us is very hit and miss for chat. We do not even tempt fate with friends list on Cannith.

I've been experiencing an issue with my friends list. Instead of giving me friend's real level, I STILL get some BS. Just pull the data from who for that column. Come on guys this should be a simple fix.

It was more stable this past weekend. D there is the tendency for it to reconnect. The issue, however, remains.

I have been watching another issue that may or may not be connected, but when party members join who do not have chat server and others in party do, I have seen them lock up at load screens very frequently, or out and out game crash. The lag is a whole other issue you really need to do something about. Please.............

There is frequent "Lost connection with chat server" messages. Sometimes it's only a short time (a few minutes or less). Other times it is much longer lasting several minutes. Regarding my friends list, I had an alt that was able to export it.

Had chat issues again last night in the Orchard and realized nobody was recalling out of the instance because no one could see party chat. I had to send a tell to everyone, what a pain.

Chat server very rarely goes offline while rest of the game is fine on Khyber. Nothing else to report on my end in the past month and a half of frequent play.

Losing connection to the chat server has been an ongoing issue on Khyber for me and my guildies since mid-summer. It's not just a minor inconvenience. It's impossible to coordinate with other players in situations like the Crucible maze when chat is not functioning.

I TRed my main today (On G-land), and logging back in to him, I got Chat server unavailable. First time for (guess I've been lucky). Restarting client again helped, but meh.

For me on Khyber i get chat loss all the time. This last year been way more than any previous years. I can pretty much assume if i am playing any significant amount of time in a day i will get it at least once to back to back for an hour. Most the time the game itself is playing fine and the only reason i notice is because everyone is very quiet.

As for as lag goes, there seems to be alot of delay these days on spells and anything i click. So could be related or just a different issues.
