It is permadeath
If you don't like permadeath contests there are a number of other servers for you to use.

Ive changed my playstyle and am going through on Elite instead of R1s. Another thing im doing is reviewing the quest info for traps and enemies i may encounter.

Sorry for being a downer. I was just trying to hard to get both reaper exp and favor early on.

Yup. After getting one/two shot by reapers 3 times I learned, no rxp at low levels, especially after the devs went nuts on low level reapers hp totals. Lost my first toon at 5 due to a plauge reaper spawning on top of me, 2 shot, another due to a famine reaper procing double lightning bolt for a one shot.

Barbarian 3
Warlock 4-7 (total of 5 lvls)
Rogue 8 (total of 2 levels)
Barbarian 9-20 (Total of 13 levels)

Highest con i can get starting with 16 & 6 cha, using CON for weapon damage, hp, fort saves, Shine through, Blood Tribute. With added LOCK damage to weapon attacks & some hirelings
