Wait, I'm confused. I read your OP as though you wanted to nerf rangers because DoD is better than THF at R10 (or something like that). Now you seem to agree that everything is fine, don't mess with DoD or rangers.

Can you elaborate on the meaning and intent of your OP?

Ordinary humans have inhibitions that serve as a buffer against what we know is bad behavior.
However, some people, by blaming others for their own bad behavior, develop a thought pattern that allows them to override self-control in order to achieve a selfish end.

Not to mention the seeing someone else doing good as a "problem".

And I stand by the opinion that R10 is an abberation in both how builds perform in it and the players that focus on it.

So look, if it comes down to having tempest left alone or having R10...

    I think R 1-5 is plenty reaperific.

Anything over that is just snob inducing.

You understood the balance problem. Obviously there are different solutions. Unfunny joke explanation incoming: In our guild there are now 7 rangers and 1 monk, so I am attempting to troll my guildies since some of them complained about monks being OP.

    Like this statement:

You can tell this person probably has never done any content above R2. Maybe they joined an R5 GH pug once or something, who knows. They certainly aren't running a static doing R10's at cap or the word "Last longer" would not be in their vocabulary.

Though truth be told they've probably never played a ranger for that matter either. Calling a ranger fragile is hilarious and comparing any melee AE in the game to DoD is hilarious. DoD is on a whole nother level of broken good.

    Anyways...

It does though raise a point about how balance works in reverse. That's one of the nuances of how balance breaks down as things go into the extremes. For example, at R1 there's functionally little difference between a ranger, monk, sorcerer, etc...they're all blowing up mob packs in 2~4 seconds of combat. So who cares?

It's only when you go to like, R8+ where a ranger is going to absolutely crush that monk or sorcerer on any given fight. Since I would wager less than 1% of DDO players are at that level, and I doubt any of the devs do either, why bother balancing around it?
I would like to play a super high dps tempest ranger in r-10s But I am not leet enough to get past builds that can safely solo content in low reapers. And therefore require strong defenses and cc on their own to go with dps. Or I have a rough schedule that prevents me from consistent strong group play. So I loved this comment it realy clarifies my issues with my playstyle, and preference for builds good in several areas but excellent in none. It is very true that when I get in a high reaper group I cannot tank or even survive very well with these balanced builds and I am best suited for another role which my builds are not optimal for either because of defensive investment, and my play habits of being able to absorb some punishment and aggressively attack in the typical difficulties I play.

High end reaper players seem to develop a very patient and tactical play style that goes against all my instincts and habits

All that said I realy love the aoe damage on a 18+ druid level wolf. Dire charge, cleave, great cleave, alpha strike, go for the kill, lay waste and snow slide are all powerful aoes that can trigger knock down from balanced attacks as well as the straight up cc that several of these attacks have. All while attacking 25%+ faster with a 2handed weapons damage than a humanoid attack rate. They get sneak attacks on par or better than ranger per hit and great mobility in combat like a monk. I haven't played a ranger in about 2 years but is the dps from DoD really good enough to out weigh the CC and dps of a wolfs attack cycle when fighting groups? Are they just attacking so much faster/more often that it totally out weighs the cleave clickies? I am sure the ranger has better single target dps but i was suffering under the illusion that AOE damage was comprable to cleaving aoe melee and that druid aoe melee may be the best there is.

You can hit 2k hp, 200 prr, and 14k dps on a first life tempest. It's mostly gear and 21 reaper points. But ya... ...r10 is a thing you do with friends. Most of the time we end up doing r7 in pugs.

You can do this on a first life rogue, monk, arti, paladin, barbarian, fighter, fvs, cleric, warlock, ranger and a few more without multicalssing. During those so called 100 lives folks have learned to optimize tons and have plenty of gear to back it. Try a build you dont read about and maybe you will learn something interesting.

Congatx on standing up in the paint why all the lemming, former monk lemmings ran to Tempest you stayed true to what you like Monk that's a grown man move.

Not to mention you can still look Kool playing monk and not like a twirling Tempest ballerina, Riverdancing your way to the top of the kill count

Now on a serious note Tempest and Assassin are ridiculous, BUT that's no reason not to NERF MONK one more time.... maybe 2

Try a 30 paladin, thf with black razor sentient, or just about any decent 2her, prowness slotted in legenary dreadnought strength build, and dont forget your melee haste boosts. You melt targets. Stop thinking you KNOW about 14k dps builds, and do know there is more then 1 way to create them. That was a decent example, here is a poor one. My tank warlock hits for like 1500 max crit, but, I can survive in R5 pulling 30 mobs. They die before I do. How much dps is that I wonder and it can be maintained indefinitely, much like swinging a weapon.
