How? The feat grants extra CL when drinking potions. Does it really affect the spell? Did it ever work?

Increases caster level of potions, depending on the artificer level, I think it caps out at +5 level bonus at Arti 14.

For the record, I have now tested Artificer Knowledge: Potions on live servers.

A level one Artificer is casting Curative Admixture: CLW at caster level 1.

When you take level 2, you gain the feat Artificer Knowledge: Potions.
Official description (including the typo):
You have an instictive understanding of magic items due to your extensive study of them. You gain a +2 bonus to Use Magic Device checks when using potions, and their Caster Level is increased by one. This Caster Level bonus increases by one at levels 5, 8, 11, and 14, and is capped by your Intelligence bonus.

Your combat log says something quite different:
(Combat): You are affected by artificer knowledge: potions.
(Combat): Your curative infusions gain a +2 to their maximum and current caster level.

And indeed, when a level 2 Artificer tosses a potion, combat log lists an increased caster level:
(Combat): You begin to cast Curative Admixture: Cure Light Wounds at level 4.

The benefit does not seem to increase as you gain additional stacks of the feat Artificer Knowledge: Potions.

For example, a level 30 pure Artificer in a non-arcane destiny casts at caster level 22:
(Combat): You begin to cast Curative Admixture: Cure Serious Wounds at level 22.

The benefit also extends to the Palliative admixture from Arcanotechnician.
(Combat): You begin to cast Curative Admixture: Pallative Potion at level 22.
It grants 60 temporary HP and 41 temporary SP at this caster level. This does not seem to match the official description, but too lazy to figure out the math here.
