Default 3rd rune jungle of khyber

My friend and I were going through Jungle of Khyber last night for the first time. We went to the mushroom room and killed all the beholders. We found two runes but could not find the 3rd. Is there some trick to finding the 3rd?

Keep hitting the Backspace key while looking around. You'll need to move to the various sections of the mushroom jungle and turn in different directions while doing so, but you will find it.

Remember to sort of look up occasionally. One of the places a rune can be is near the ceiling of the room. You'll have to climb to get to it.

This^, in so many words, is how you say time and feedback on Lamannia are wasted.

If you look at the wiki map: the yellow squares in the beholder room indicate the possible spawn points for the runes. Some are high up; some are down low. Like Arkat said, use your targeting key to help you find them. The wiki map also shows the chest locations for the optional named beholders who sometimes spawn in that room too.

On a Friday night, long ago, 6 drunken gamers spent an hour looking for a lost rune. In-game ticket was submitted, (forgot the outcome of that) and while we waited and drank some more, one of us found it by the portal. True story.

It happened similarly to me the first time. One of those well-done cruel jokes by the designers.

"Hey, let's make one randomly appear as a possibility right by the exit. They will never check there. Hah! Imagine them jumping around all those mushrooms! The fools!"

We looked all over. Looking for well hidden switches is not really why we are gaming and makes it more likely one or both of us will give up the game completely.

It also kind of bothers me that my character's Int is too low to activate the switches and my friend's character was only Int=10, but he could activate them (Barely?). What if we were both playing classes with Int as a dump stat? We'd get 3/4 of the way through the quest and find we were stuck. A whole night's gaming (our first time through the quest) wasted.

The rune requirement was lowered at least twice in the past. So feel happy you managed to do it with 10.

Hidden switches = big glowing squares in a small room?
Int 10 = big requirment for a lvl 9 quest?
    Von 3 = whole nights's gaming?

Why didn't you ask for help on chat or check ddo wikki? What's even the purpose of this thread?

Yeah that sucks man. The good news is the quest has been out for like 10 years, so you had plenty of time to pick up a potion of fox's cunning for less than a gp in the marketplace by now.

Thank you, I also found this very helpful and have been playing for a few years.
