Gingerspyce's week in videos: Reaper Life- the early levels

Reaper Life has seen a lot of positive response so far and we have had tons of fun pushing our limits in reaper mode! Our crew was not a truly static group. Cyax and I have run most of our racial lives together and Ina has traveled with us for the better part of most of those lives. Littlemama ran with us when our schedules aligned and when she was our level range. Nimvind ran the past couple lives with us, while Jimmy just started running regularly with us late last life. At this point in the series, we are still trying to find our groove and come into our own. We have captured some struggles and a lot of laughs, and we are having a blast sharing our adventures with you.

Episode 1: Level 2 - R6 Kobold's New Ringleader
Usually during the first handful of heroic levels I find myself soloing or duoing quests and typically just do R1-2 for the real lowbies. This was the first time any of us had attempted Ringleader on R6. Prior to level 4, we don't have our reaper points yet, so doing these early quests on higher skulls is especially challenging!

Episode 2: Level 3 - R5 Swiped Signet
Another lowbie prior to having access to our reaper trees. Reaper mode is forcing us to break the zerging habits of the past several years and work together as a team. We have enjoyed the challenge so far!

Episode 3: Level 4 - R6 Repossession
I like to do this one on reaper mode because it's a pretty quick source of reaper xp. Without a trapper or someone to read the pedestals, this one can be very messy. The video shows our first 2 attempts at R7, which were unsuccessful, so it captures our struggles in these early levels. Looking back, this was the low point in the series, where we were still coalescing as a team.

Episode 4: Level 5 - R7 Legend of Two-Toed Tobias
Three Barrel Cove saw a makeover a few years back and is now some of the best heroic xp in the game at this level range! This was our first successful R7 quest of the series and the first level range in the series in which we had done quests on higher skulls prior to this life. I've been taking detailed notes about the quests we've been doing since reaper mode came out; the skull ratings we did, how difficult it was and who we were with. If we thought a quest wasn't bad last life, we bumped it up to the next skull in the next life. Every video of the series will feature us doing a quest on a skull rating higher than we've ever attempted. I thought R7 Two-Toed went well...




One of our goals for the series was to encourage others to try to do higher skull quests. So much of the community is doing R1-2's, which is a great place to start, but we feel that there exists kind of a mysticism in the community that higher skull quests are impossible or can't be done without using cheese methods. After building up some reaper points, higher skull quests become very doable, are a fun challenge and the reaper xp is fantastic! I've already heard from a couple viewers who have said the series has inspired them to push themselves into higher skull territory, woot!
