Ranger or Monkcher

Hello all

Im thinking about doing a ranged life next and cant decide between pure Ranger or a Monkcher (M12 R6 F2).

Im not fussed about soloing LE or EE, I just want to be able to have no problems in EH if/ when I solo and meaningfully contribute in grouped EE and LE

Which would you consider to be the stronger of the two?

Which is the easier to play? (I dont like button mashing)

Should I learn on a pure Ranger and “graduate” to a Monkcher on a later life?

I have done a Ranger life on this alt but it was as a Tempest.

Im not after build advice as theres plenty of builds around, rather I just after some thoughts on the issue from players with experience.

The advantage of the Pure Ranger is that you have a good melee fallback for times when melee is needed with the TWF line.

The monkarcher is powerful, but you really need to understand how active and passive Ki generation works. Also your very tied to the Ranged option, which is not bad but not necessarily flexible either.

If you have not played a pure ranged character or don't have experience with monk I would lean towards the Pure Ranger. Otherwise I think you will like the monkarcher better.

I personally run a 12/8 Elven Fighter/Wizard AA/EK. Ranged combat can be fun especially learning when Archer's Focus vs IPS works best for you.
