    Default DDOCentral Twitter Following

    Update on DDOCentral's progress.

DDOCentral has had a Twitter account since its inception in September 2014 and has grown from zero Twitter followers to almost 2,000 in less than five months.

How did I do this? Every day, during the last month or so, I began unfollowing 100 accounts that were not following DDOCentral back and then followed 100 new accounts. I poach new Twitter accounts to follow from World of Warcraft's and Neverwinter's Twitter accounts, from the top of those lists. I use the free version of an application called Unfollowers to accomplish this task very quickly, usually in 10 minutes. I do this early in the morning after I post the daily update for the DDOCentral Wordpress site and have missed only a few days of unfollowing so far.

Because of this process, I think DDOCentral will be able to hit 10,000 or more Twitter followers by the end of 2015 if not sooner. Now that the DDOCentral Twitter account has a significant following, I receive dozens of new followers every day - even from accounts that I did not follow first. An account with tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands of followers has a real impact on the Twitter community. Neverwinter Online has almost 40k Twitter followers: https://twitter.com/NeverwinterGame

RIFT has over 50k Twitter followers: https://twitter.com/Riftgame

Elder Scrolls Online has 400k Twitter followers: https://twitter.com/TESOnline

World of Warcraft has over 660k Twitter followers: https://twitter.com/Warcraft

And Dungeons and Dragons Online has less than 9k followers after being on Twitter for five years: https://twitter.com/DDOUnlimited

I think it would certainly be possible to match at least Neverwinter's Twitter follower count. All this would take is 10 minutes a day - every day - and creating a free account with Unfollowers (https://unfollowers.com/). Twitter probably offers the most growth potential of any social media platform as there is no cap on the number of followers a Twitter account can have and the medium is very much like a real time feed, with updates being displayed to users instantly.

Something else to note: McDonald's spent almost $1 billion on marketing in 2013 (http://www.csmonitor.com/Business/Th...tising-in-2013). Is this because not enough people have heard of McDonald's yet? No. It is because even McDonald's has to constantly stay in front of consumers to get them to continue to come into their restaurants and buy burgers.
