Someone explain shield bash plz?

Ok so I know how you can attack with your shield instead of your weapon...but do you get shield attacks when you are JUST swinging your weapon? Does it factor in DPS from your shield during normal attacks or do you HAVE to attack with your shield to get shield dps?

Depends on your enchantments, and stuff.
You can get a shield attacks just by swinging a weapon, with % chance (Vanguard enhancements and stuff). This however triggers pretty poorly (if I remember correctly you can get maximum of 1 bash per second).
Also you bash when blocking.

Shield DPS is really low anyway, so doesn't really matter. People mostly get for stuns, debbufs, and extra defense.

cant shield bash if auto attacking (unless u have Improved Bash)

with up23 u can procure while moving.
